It's an adult twist on a great classichdofu2023-12-04Version 1.0

I'm divided on this getting listed as a complete hack as it doesn't change music, dungeon /item/ maps... but on the other hand it changes everything else. It is a parody hack through and through and if you are looking for some jokes that would have the average middle schooler wetting themselves from laughing too hard it's a good time... I find playing it a guilty pleasure. If you don't like Zelda II this isn't the game that will sway you to love it (well I guess in this weird world it could given the right situation). It's definitely what other graffiti hacks aspire to be.

Fun Twist on a Classiccodyg2012-09-06-

This game is a cosmetic hack only (at least, as far as I could tell) - enemy difficulty and levels remained the same, power-ups remained the same... it felt like I was playing the original Zelda II. Well... with some pretty hilarious exceptions!

I tag-teamed this game with one of my best friends, who happens to be one of the biggest Zelda fans I know. Maybe the humor came across better because there were two of us laughing together, but we found the hack highly amusing. The dialog in every town - from the writing on the mailboxes to the ladies who heal your health/magic - was unbelievably childish and hilarious. We legitimately laughed out loud at some of the dialog, from the rare clever lines to the more common, completely ridiculous ones.

The sprites are very well-done in that hit boxes and gameplay seemed absolutely identical to the original game. At no point were my friend or I frustrated at all with not being able to hit enemies accurately, or with their appearances being misleading. No bugs to speak of, either.

Our one major complaint with the hack is that the humor kind of tapered off when we reached the Great Temple. We were awake pretty late playing the game and we wanted to sleep, but my friend insisted "the final palace has to have something hilarious in it, let's push through." To our disappointment, there was nothing new or special in the final temple, so we were a bit let down.

Overall I'd give this hack an A-minus, because most of it really was pretty entertaining, and playing a classic game with a fun (if silly) twist was definitely a treat. Kudos to the creator of the hack for making me laugh and staying true to the Zelda II experience - I just wish there had been a bit more of a "bang" at the end (particularly with the Thunderbird) and Zelda had delivered a better zinger to end the game.

I DEFINITELY recommend this hack as long as you won't be too disappointed that the game kind of peaks a bit before the Great Temple, because the rest of the game is full of fun surprises that will keep you on your toes!
