Honestly, at first it didn't attract me at all. 4 games in one "game ROM". However, these are full-fledged games that are almost perfect. Why almost? Because they removed the original problems from the original, making them more playable and less problematic for other game characters.

There are also game settings where you can fully "Change the game the way you want." For example, to make a game in the style of a Prototype Release. Or maybe "endless lives"? Or maybe "make the game easier"? "Other music"? "Other features from other games"?

Or maybe just break all the stereotypes and "DO WHATEVER I WANT"?

It's very hard to do a custom version and leave everyone happy, specially the more changes you add to the mix. But from any standing point, this Sonic 3 Complete leaves very little if nothing to be desired as it comes fully customizable. If something doesn't convince you, you can change it! and all thanks to the options menu:

First, you can boot the game as you wish: Sonic 3 standalone, Sonic & Knuckles, Blue Spheres, Sonic Complete...

Second, you can make a custom experience from gameplay to music. You can choose the music that plays, how the music resets, how the AI behaves, S&K controls...

And third, there are some extras not available before on the megadrive as the difficulty levels (previously only in the Sonic Jam compilation), fixed bugs, prototype stuff and extra controls using the six buttons pad.

I am myself a nitpicky person, specially with things that I like and know very well, and I can't think of anything I could miss from the original games. And I can't think of any either to improve.

You really gotta admire the effort these guys put into this hack. Restoring levels to Sonic 3 design, fixing bugs, fixing more bugs. This is definitely the more complete version of Sonic 3 and I recommend playing this.
