Love the life bar from Dracula X (wish it was red!)timeisup2020-04-05Version 2.1

Love the life bar from Dracula X (wish it was red!), but don't care much for Simon's palette change. He doesn't look shades of brown as in CV1, he's just been muted and lightened a bit to a soft bitter red rather than the moodier look of the original game.

That is a problem IMO because Simon's Quest is a moody game and the dark colors really add to the atmosphere. If we could separate these into two patches and especially get the life bar red, we'd really have something. As others have pointed out, not compatible with the Re-translation + Map patch which is a real deal breaker.

Very good but make it compatible with English Re-translation (+ Map) PatchBlueFenix2019-08-05Version 2.1

Your hack is amazing but I don't like to have to choose between yours and Re-translation (+ Map) is I think I'm not the only one who thinks so so please be compatible.

Lifebar hack is niceskroops2017-05-31Version 2.1

note: this patch is incompatible with versions of bisqwit's retranslation above 2.9.8.17, but 2.9.8.17 is plenty good enough.

Lifebar hack is nice and really improves the game but I don't think the CV1 palette swap fits. Moreover It seems to contradict the lore implied (retroactively) by bisqwit's retranslation intro movie, where Simon starts to look different after he gets sick. I'm not sure why the author didn't make this two separate patches. It's easy enough to fix by hex editing the new palette [07 27 37 0F] back to the original [0F 16 20 0F]. In my rom it was at 0x0001CABF.

A good idea but flawedMysterii2016-10-24Version 2.1

While it does make Simon pop out a bit more, I would suggest importing Simon's graphics from the original and from the MSX version (Vampire Killer) because of them use of shields in both this game and VKMSX.
