Hack description

Despite the hack name, this is a hack of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Genesis and not a hack of Sonic 1. The hack incorporates levels which were scrapped before the game was released. The levels are recreated using information gathered from either prototype ROM releases, scrapped data from the final ROM, information found in interviews, game screenshots, or concept art. Unlike other lost level restoration hacks this hack only incorporates the lost levels and no other levels are included aside from the prototype version of Casino Night Zone.

==Levels==

*Dust Hill Zone: Based off the single mock-up image found in magazines.
*Rock Zone: Based off info found in a piece of concept art.
*Wood Zone: Based off the design found in a prototype.
*Winter Zone: Based off info from an interview. Includes Christmas trees.
*Hidden Palace Zone: Based off design found in a prototype. Uses the intended music found in the final version of the game.
*Casino Night Zone: Based off the design found in a prototype. Uses the music found in the prototype.
*Cyber City Zone: Based off a piece of concept art.

Unique Worlds!Mother Kojiro2021-12-21Version 1

The level design can be a bit frustrating in this one, and it's a bit stingy with checkpoints (and therefore chances to grab the Chaos Emeralds), but I do think it's worthwhile overall. There are some zones you'll see in other hacks, but if nothing else, Rock Zone is worth the price of admission all on its own; it's this burning horror of blood red lava, charred brown dust, and a blazing sunset behind it all. Dust Hill, Wood, and Hidden Palace Zones are all neat, too, even if other hacks also have them.

Prototype levels - and they are interestingdiablo6662020-10-10Version 1

I can see how they tried to recreate levels that were not included in the original. Did you succeed? Mostly - interesting and unusual, original in their own way. I passed though not from 1 time, but still returned to them. They are quite neat, especially surprised by the credits at the end. But there is a minus that people noticed: "they differ from the classic levels."Well, in a sense - there is such a thing, but you should not find fault with this little thing. This is an "extension from romhacker's view", so I don't see this as a еrror. Who wants to try these unique levels.

Probably the best of the "beta content" Sonic 2 hacksMathUser29292016-06-09Version 1

I really like the graphics of the cut Sonic 2 levels in this hack. The cut levels seem much closer to the concept art and all the other info that is known about them. Well, it's a much more recent hack, so that explains that. I dig the Rock Zone too. I don't know where he got those graphics from but they fit the game well.
