Hack description

Rockman Cross X is a hack for Rockman 5: Blues no Wana (not the overseas version, Mega Man 5) that changes the game into a boss-rush type with very little focus on platforming. All the bosses have been rewritten, giving each one new attacks not seen yet.

This hack is playable up to the second fortress stage, and features a good number of secret weapons and bosses. You may also enter a pure boss-rush where every boss is confronted in a random order by pressing Select on the title screen.

Rockman Cross X (RM5 hack) - Unfinished work. And this is real ...diablo6662021-11-26Version 6.1

Unfinished than any other hack that calls itself finished.

This hack is boss rush. It is interesting, but short. Abilities are changed, ways to get anything and everything are changed, secret rooms for bosses ...

I was interested in going through it? YES? YES!

Bosses are interesting, abilities are unique, secrets and secret bosses are cleverly arranged.

BUT SHORT ...

The downside is only one point. There is in this hack - it is really possible to pass all the bosses at a time. Here: WHAT DID YOU THINK ABOUT? ALL BOSSES IN ONE SIT? Then restore a little health, otherwise the E-tank is not enough.

I recommend only passing bosses one at a time, and do not touch the secret function.

P.S. The secret Function is passable, but like the hack itself, it is not completed. As in the hack itself - having reached the end - there will be only an endless blank screen (in normal mode: Eternal jumping into spikes)

Awesome hack, just kinda shortSosuko2021-08-23Version 6.1

As the description of the hack says, this is an incomplete hack, ending at the 2nd fortress stage. Still, for what it is, you get 14 great boss fights to go through which really push the limit of what you can expect from a Megaman hack. The bosses all have supped up attacks and patterns that can be learned and avoided, while still being pretty challenging. Each also has an "overdrive mode" that they will enter once you've lowered them to about 1/3 HP, which spice things up even more. You also have some new tools at your disposal like a weapon that let's you temporarily fire fully charged buster shots without charging. Finally, each weapon you get from the bosses are pretty unique in their own right, since they aren't any more effective against one boss VS another (strictly speaking). Instead, they each have their own unique abilities associated to the weapon, which can be more effective in some situations over others. For example, Fire Storm applies damage over time to enemies and if you are hit while equipped, you gain a high-damage fire shield for a short time. Another great example is the Shadow Blade, which has an "absorb shot" property similar to Shade Man's ability from Megaman 7, while also granting you longer invincibility time after taking damage and a faster slide.

There is a lot to enjoy here despite it being an incomplete hack and given how short it is, it's easy to recommend this one to any Megaman fan!

Certainly an interesting one.RRThielNC2014-08-09-

I'm sure you guys are all aware of "Showdown hacks," in which all it is is just the bosses and no levels. Personally, I never understood the appeal of those hacks. However, I was able to find two exceptions: Tsukikuro's Rockman TP, and this.

Why do I choose those ones? Because the bosses' A.I. is actually different. In regular Showdown hacks, the bosses are exactly the same, with maybe the boss room looking different. TP features new boss A.I., while Cross-X features new bosses entirely.

I don't mean new robot masters, I just mean robot masters from other games. Cross-X's roster is Quick Man, Fire Man, Elec Man, Air Man, Toad Man, Shadow Man, Magnet Man, and newcomer Shocker Man, whose basically a palette-swap of Skull Man who behaves very similarly to Skull Man, so I won't bother calling him a new one.

Anyway, I won't bother to go into the level design because there pretty much is none. This is, like I said, a Showdown hack, meaning that every level is just 3 to 4 rooms long, including the first room, the boss hallway, the boss room, and the occasional secret room, which may contain some goodies. The boss A.I. is very well done, providing a nice amount of challenge and fun. They can get pretty tough at times, but it's overall pretty nice. On top of that, each boss has an Overdrive mode, where they're pattern becomes much faster and does more damage, similar to Rockman 4 Minus Infinity. If you collect all the hidden letters in each stage, you will be given an Overdrive mode. I'm not quite sure if it does anything yet, which brings me to my next point.

Rockman Cross-X is, unfortunately, and incomplete hack. After you beat a boss in the fortress stages, the game automatically kills you, making you unable to progress. As far as I know, Cross-X hasn't received a new version in quite some time now, but I hope it'll be completed soon.

But that's only a minor flaw. Rockman Cross-X, overall, is a pretty good hack that gives lots of challenge and replay value. I'd give it a recommendation to go play it!

Very difficult, but worth playingSatoshi_Matrix2012-12-25-

Despite being a hack of the fifth and easiest of the Megaman classic games, Cross X is HARD. This is a save-state only game. Without save states you won't even stand a chance.

Of all Megaman hacks, this is one of the more interesting you'll find. With almost no focus on level designs, this one is entirely about the boss battles, with sophisticated enemy AI that even experienced Megaman players will have trouble with.

As the battles with each of the bosses progress, they'll change tactics to their "overdrive" modes which makes them increasingly more difficult to hit while avoiding their attacks.

You have at your disposal unique weapons as well, such as one that allows you to instantly fire charge shots.

The Megabuster is now less powerful and bosses are far more deadly. Do you have the skills to beat this masterful hack?
