Hack description

This hack adjusts the difficulty of Zelda II to make it more playable. As we all know, this game is very difficult to complete, to the point where it is frustrating to play through it and is not even fun due to the high difficulty. That is where this hack comes into play.

Some of the things it does is increases the damage you do to enemies, reduces the damage you take from enemies, reduces the amount of magic your spells consume, and increases the number of lives you start with.

Special thanks goes to the ROM hacking community for helping me get started. Special thanks also goes to snarfblam for hosting these files for me to get them submitted to the site. Without their contributions, this hack would not have been possible.

Makes it a very good game!vonseux2020-01-18Version 1.0

I can say o like Zelda 2 more than the original thanks to this hack... The aventure is more enjoyable while still risky and rewarding. The perfect kind of hack: fixes issues and keeps it simples as the retail release

Makes a good game that was far too hard IMO excellent. The game is still a challenge you just won't break a controller trying to beat it anymore. It's not so tedious to level up and kill enemies. You don't have to be the perfect combatant either. I wish something like this existed for other games like say NES Ghost n Goblins, another good game that's just a touch too hard (they nailed it on the SNES though). It's my favorite way to play this game now. Thanks for this hack, it's been very much appreciated.

I enjoyed this. I don't know if "easy" is the proper term here; maybe "fair". Overall, the difficulty feels closer to Zelda 1. Which means it still isn't a breeze, but that's welcome.

Only complaints:

1) Bosses seem too easy.

2) I had to rely on savestates extensively to complete this because if I died I was greeted by just a plain black screen. No save option or continues. No Ganon screen.

Excellent for beginners.Chris Miller2013-02-26-

Let me start off by saying I can smoke the original Zelda 2. However, not everybody can. This hack is a great way to get new players to play the game who find the original intimidating.

I would say that the difficulty modifications you've done put it roughly on par with the original first quest of Zelda 1. They're two different things, so it's hard to say for sure, but that's the feeling I get.

You did a great job with this, and I'm really surprised nobody thought of it before, lol!
