Hack description

This is the Super Mario World hack made by the man who made Super Mario World hacking easy with Lunar Magic, FuSoYa! What started out as just a demo of what Lunar Magic could do, it turned into a full hack of Super Mario World that's complete right to the end. This patch is so expansive it expands the size of the ROM to 48mbits!

It showcases many of the features in Lunar Magic, including the new tile and palette animation feature included in version 1.60. And it has new custom blocks such as screen-scrolling type pipes that are similar to what you'd see in Mario 3.

This truly a great hack! It must be played and experienced to be judged! It's also very challenging! So, what are you waiting for? Quit reading this and go download and play the patch!

NOTE: This patch is made for a 48mbit expanded version of Super Mario World. Please use LunarExpand to expand you Super Mario world ROM before applying this patch as explained in the readme!

Favors Showy Graphics and Mechanics at the Cost of Funthunder1352017-01-29Version 1.1

This hack showcases a wide variety of what can be done in hacking SMW, including new graphics and new items. Unfortunately, the one thing not showcased is level design. It has some of the cardinal sins of level design, including:

    • Item babysitting (carrying a p switch through most of the pyramid level)
    • Unforeseen hazards (forth desert level is a headache of trial and error)
    • Unstable levels (second desert level has platforms sometimes not appear, forcing death)

That being said, not all of the levels are bad, some are even fun. I made it as far as castle #2 and played through three of the star levels. After discovering that the key to star level 1 was down one seemingly bottomless pit at the end of the level, out of about 4 others, I quit. Trial and error with no clues is no fun.

One Of The Best!Bond6972009-09-01-

FuSoYa made this Super Mario World hack to demonstrate just how powerful his editor, Lunar Magic, really was. Everything about the hack speaks for itself in terms of quality, innovation, and as a demonstration of what Lunar Magic can do. The bright, colorful backgrounds(mostly inserted from other games - a nice feature of Lunar Magic), awesome level design, decent difficulty, and clever secret placement make for something really memorable. All in all, it would be very difficult to top Super Demo World The fact that the hack is almost 6 years old and still has few rivals is a testament to that.
