Castlevania (USA).nes - NOINTRO - PRG0 VersionHack description
This is a rom hack I made based off of Luto Akino's hack called CastleVania Overflow Darkness. I had his permission to do so. I pretty much re-did all the stages and their graphics. I did, however, keep most of Luto's enemy designs and attack patterns, his cool looking Simon's sprite, his castle introduction sequence(I did change the castle, tho) and his ending screen(Which is awesome) since these were the reasons why I wanted to do this in the first place. However, any other new graphics you'll see were most likely done by myself.Screenshots

One of the few CV hack where the enemies reason, the best thing of this hack is the A.I. of the enemies, this hack is difficult not because there are 50 bats that fly on the screen but because the enemies reason, this force you to adopt various strategy to pass the level. The design of the enemies and of Simon is beautiful, but because they were taken from another CV hack, so I don't consider this a for or against, but the level design (that is completely original) is beautiful! The second level have a lot of doors and you must try them all to pass the level, in the third there are parts of level behind the walls and you think that you must break the wall to move on, but in reality you must go in another direction to pass the level. In my opinion the best level is the fourth because it seems an Egyptian pyramid and I love the Egypt, but this doesn't relevant anything into a CV hack, so we can intend this level like a treasure hall in the dungeons of the palace. My vote for this hack is 4/5.
| Probably the greatest | resq | 2017-10-13 | Version Final |
This one is great. The graphics are superb. Gameplay, item placement and balance. In this hack you only get four hits before you die but there is food that restores two hits. Level 1 is easy as it should be. Level 2 doesn't spam flying things too much. Level 3 is fun and a little hard - I never passed it. The level 3 boss is great. It's two flying demons that throw spinning crap at you. There's nothing bad to say about this one. The levels display wrongly on the screen so level 2 says level 6 and level 3 says level 7. This is probably the greatest Castlevania hack I've ever played. Highly recommended!
| Focus in strategy and high difficulty | HatZen08 | 2013-02-07 | - |
The good aspect of this hack is the artificial intelligence of enemies. They have different behaviours and must be defeated with different strategies. It forces the player to think strategically instead of the traditional hack-and-slash behaviour. The bad aspect of this hack is the difficulty. Players without experience in Castlevania games will find this hack difficult. This hack is interesting because of strategic elements. You must discover the correct approach to your surroundings to succeed. Otherwise, it is game over. Unlike others hacks, you must know what you are doing instead of killing everything in sight without thinking. I don't recommend this hack because of the high difficulty. However, players with more experience in Castlevania games may find it interesting.
