Hack description

This is a hack of Capcom's Mega Man II for the NES. It is a level edit of the game. This hack changes the levels in the game in some sort of way except for Quickman's stage and Wily 5 (because it's just a boss rush).

Hope you enjoy the hack!

Mega Man II: Wily Strikes Back - BADDobu_GM2019-04-25Version 1.0

Mega Man II: Wily Strikes Back

Levels: Bad

Graphics: No Change

Music: No Change

Enemies: No Change

Bosses: No Change (Different Boss Rooms)

Weapons: No Change

Castle: Eh

Difficulty: EASY-MEDIUM

Comments: A hack that seeks to remix the levels in Mega Man 2 but... curiously leaves half the game untouched. Only Metal Man and Flash Man's level undergo any kind of serious revisions, and the latter requires you to have both Item-1 and Crash Bomber, or it softlocks you. There's a few interesting sections, but for the most part Wily Strikes Back is too similar to the base game to really have an identity of its own.

Another "Low-Level" hack...Zieldak2013-01-26-

Review on Version 1.

Well. When I saw the name of this hack, when it wasn't approved yet, I thought this will be a good hack. But, hmm... Now I see the name doesn't show how good the hack is actually.

  • The hack feels really unfinished even if it was in development for 3 months.
  • The hack hasn't got any graphics changes.

Well, we are in a very modern age, with many programs and tools that can be used to change graphics in these games. The creator should have tried to do something with the graphics. This is a vey bad point of the hack. I wish at least the graphics were changed.

  • Most of the parts are the same as in the original.

Yes, you heard it. A lot of rooms are the same in this hack, or got 1-2 small changes on them. For a good example, there is Crash Man's stage. The ladders are replaced, removed, the platforms are moved, but most of the places are the same. And most of the parts of the level are just hardened parts, like at the first longroom section, where solid ground is removed after every 4-4 tiles. Also, a lot of places, tiling is wrong, parts of background is missing, or wrongly placed (Metal Man's stage), etc., etc., etc. The creator really should have tried to put more work into this hack.

Well, too much criticism already. I won't go into the music, because it's forgiveable. In short, I shall say I don't really recomment this hack. It has nothing new to show, well, except the difficulty.

I only recommend this for players who are new on playing hacks, or who like level-only hacks. Not recommended for true Mega Man/Rockman fans.
