Like its predecessor, Donkey Kong Country: Boss Blitz, Donkey Kong Country 2: Brigand Barrage is a well-polished boss-rush hack. Brigand Barrage offers fun customisation options like recolouring the Kongs, allowing you to pick which one you start as, and whether there's even a second character at all, and it records your best efforts on the "Best Bouts" leaderboard. The record-saving really helps this hack to shine, as it keeps you coming back to it. It's a fun challenge to try your hand at one or all of Donkey Kong Country 2's bosses, and as with the equivalent hack for the previous game in the series, this one is great fun whether played solo or against friends. Also like its predecessor, if it were to be merged with the standard Donkey Kong Country 2 game, you could easily be fooled into thinking that it's official content that has been restored - it really is that well-polished. If you liked Donkey Kong Country: Boss Blitz, then Donkey Kong Country 2: Brigand Barrage is a must as well. Hopefully we'll see a similar boss-rush hack for Donkey Kong Country 3 and its array of weird bosses in the future, too! I tested this game in the versions of RetroPie for both the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B and the Raspberry Pi Zero W, and it worked as it should with both. | |||
