Rockman RX Levels: Good Graphics: Good Music: No Change Enemies: Good Bosses: Okay Weapons: Eh (Thunder Beam ammo) Castle: Okay Difficulty: MEDIUM Comments: Fans of vanilla Mega Man 1 need not fear: Rockman RX is here! RX is a clever hack that focuses on making visually appealing levels that are a lot of fun to blast through. While enemy and boss AI remains unchanged, their stats have been tweaked to form a more balanced adventure: Sniper Joes and Big Eyes are easier to burst down while Blasters and Kamadomas are a bit more durable. Sadly you'll have to put up with all the old MM1 tunes and the only change to your weapons is that Thunder Beam consumes a little more ammo. Despite that, RX is definitely worth a play, especially if you don't mind the game getting a bit mean (and repetitive) in its Wily stages.

...this hack will pass the test of time. Honestly, I thought it would be a bad decision to take up this hack. And I was wrong (on the positive side). The graphics are taken from other parts, or from other games. However, it was done qualitatively, so I had no complaints. Honest difficulty? Yes! It varies from mild to above average. Why is that? And the fact is that here the role is played by the majority - the abilities from the bosses. Thus, it turns out that you can also play with a blaster, and study the abilities. This is how your skill as a player is pumped. Bosses have made other AI, or complicated them - by slightly correcting the levels. The graphics are beautifully made, the levels are worked out almost to perfection, the bosses do not cause pain, and the improvement of game features - YOU WILL FIND EVERYTHING HERE Recommend it? As a "Refreshment" of sensations - YES. It will suit both a new player and more experienced players
| Nothing crazy, but a refreshing experience | Sosuko | 2020-08-25 | Version 1.0 |
Though the hack is a little rough around the edges in terms of level design, it's still balanced enough to get through and enjoy it throughout. What is on display is pretty different from the designs of the original game, and certain themes are utilized well in certain levels. The new weaknesses lets you experiment and figure out boss order and strategies, and though some damage is unavoidable in boss fights, it ultimately does rely largely on your skill over luck. I really enjoyed the changes to the Wily Bosses (the change to the Yellow Devil was pretty clever), and by the end of it, felt pretty rewarded for having overcome it all. Speaking to my "rough around the edges" comment, there are some buggy parts of the game. For example, when you teleport in to the final Wily battle, if you jump before moving you get locked in place and stuck on the left side of the screen, which after going through a boss gauntlet to get there, is pretty frustrating. Still, overall I'd recommend to anyone who's a fan of the original game and a little more challenge than the original
| Good hack, but... | Timaeus | 2020-03-04 | Version 1.0 |
The graphics are great, and I loved Fireman's stage. Some of them make references of other MM stages, and looks nice overall. It is great considering the limitations. The level design is good, but Bomb Man's stage does use Sniper Joes way too much and became boring quickly. Also, there is a glitch that can mess up Wily 4. Due to how the teleporters are placed, you can stand still, get hit and scroll backwards through the room, getting stuck. The bosses are a mix bag. Some are ok, but Cutman and CWU01P became very uncomfortable to fight, and you will get hit alot. Also Bombman jumps alot shorter and walking towards him sometimes does not make you dodge the bombs. I think he could have been done abit better perhaps. The new sprites are nice and fresh, and I liked how the Big Eyes can be killed without relying on special weapons or luck. Props for that. About the weapons, Fire Storm became kinda useless against half of the enemies here (half are Spines, by the way), which was wierd. Overall, I liked the graphics and the level design was good, but a few bosses did not let me enjoy it as much as I wanted to. I still recommend it, though.
| Very decent experience | Kallisto | 2017-02-07 | Version 1.0 |
This author did a good job balancing out enemy placements, puzzles, and item pickups throughout each stage, and each boss provides a good challenge each with a unique weakness, I definitely like the new enemy sprites as it gives MM1 a bit of a new experience, and some of the stage's graphics look pretty amazing, and especially Elec Man's stage! The only issue I came across is when you re-fight Elec Man as it is a bit of power struggle without any boulder blocks to throw at him this time around, but it is not impossible to beat, but requires a bit of luck. Overall the entire romhack was amazing experience, congrats to the author.
