Hack description

This hack has been worked on for over 9 years!

Samus' suit is redesigned, all of the maps have been edited, title screen, mission text, credits, and item locations.

None of the weapons or power ups were changed. The author believes the original Metroid nailed it, and choose not to change them.

It includes Saves and a Mini-Map. The mini-map does have problems when you get to the edges of the world. Once you're back away it works like normal.

Poor Design and Glitchesnyanpasu2015-08-20Version 4_12_15

Very linear map design, boring room layouts, and worst of all the game would not count the Ridley kill. Ridley would die, but there was no jingle, no missiles, and I could not go to Tourian because the game considered Ridely still alive. I thought maybe it was a fake Ridley but after searching his hideout inside-out I've concluded that this is simply a glitch, one which refuses to right itself no matter how many times I try.

This is not the only glitch I encountered in the hack either, which included odd sudden spawns from thin air, invisible floors, etc. Even if these glitches were not present the game isn't worth playing anyway because of the long dull linear sections - the game gives you very little freedom to explore on your own. No challenge to speak of, either.

Very disappointing.

Well done and fun!lexluthermiester2015-04-28Version 4_12_15

Going to disagree with the review from "Agastya". Even though this newest version is polished and refined, even the version they reviewed[2_12_14A] was good and mostly free of bugs and glitches. The only remaining glitch I can find is the onscreen map when near the edges of the level goes squirrely. The pause screen map is unaffected.

This newest version refines the hack to something truly worthy of praise and something Nintendo themselves would be impressed by. The level design is creative and interesting, if a bit repetitive[but then so was the original game], enemy choices and placements are also challenging but not to the point of being cheap. Item and weapon placement are well thought out and leave room for sequence breaking and exploring without the need for pointless backtracking.

The dev should be well proud of the hard work put into this hack/mod of Metroid! Highly recommended for anyone whether you're new to Metroid or a veteran player!

Duke Nukem Forever had a better payoff than thisAgastya2015-04-13Version 2_12_14A

The map layout is confusing, the color palettes are questionable, and there's door loops that lead to doors that disappear.

It feels like a majority of the supposed nine year development time was spent starting the hack nine years ago, leaving it alone on a corner of the author's PC, and then touching it up a little bit eight years later.

Was worth a few good laughs, at least. If you want to see how to not design a Metroid game, then this is a pretty good example.
