Rockman 2nd - OKAYDobu_GM2019-04-20Version 1.0

Rockman 2nd

Levels: Good

Graphics: Okay (New Palettes)

Music: No Change

Enemies: Eh (Different Weaknesses)

Bosses: Okay (Different Rooms)

Weapons: Eh (Ammo usage rebalance, weaknessess)

Castle: Good

Difficulty: MEDIUM (Occasionally HARD)

Comments: A pretty tough hack with a couple really clever ideas, like turning Air Man's level into a vertical stage. At times it can be really cruel (laser beam section, Flash Man's stage, Wily 2), but it's well designed and the new color palettes are pretty nice on some levels. Still somewhat rudimentary due to no new weapons/boss AI/music, but besides that it's a pretty good hack.

This hack is a more humble one, but still worth experiencing. The level design is mostly fair, but you'll probably want to use states at certain points, such as Air Man's stage or any of the many disappearing block puzzles, which are some of the most frustrating I've seen, and I've played a hack that had one with gravity flipping. Also, be sure to have Flash Man's weapon before attempting Metal Man's stage; I don't think it's actually possible to get past the beams without it. Other than that, the level design seems to be centered mostly around solving puzzles, some of which are pretty clever. What I do really like about the hack is running into special little moments, like one part at the end of Wood Man's stage where the forest is laid out just perfectly, with a pool of what looks like nuclear water below. This hack is full of screens just like that, and they're neat to find, even if they're not particularly hidden.
