I began playing this hack shortly after finishing all or most of the Mega Man 1 level hacks I've got here and have to say I was completely blown away. It's more than merely a well balanced game that's plenty of fun to play, it's virtually an entire remake of the first two classic Mega Man NES games. The only thing that really needed improving in regards to the levels prior to Wily's Castle stage that I could identify was one of the stages was silent and it had no music. In terms of Wily's castle that's another story. There are parts that could certainly use a complete overhaul because they're ridiculous. Save states are an absolute must or else you're going to be sitting there probably forever trying to figure them out. But prior to that the levels are beautifully redone and redesigned and I especially enjoyed playing the metal man stage. I used the slide & charge-up shot patch during the playthrough and it was like playing Mega Man 1 and 2 all over again for the first time only in a brand new way. I hope to see remakes of parts: 3,4,5 and 6 done the very same way. Unless you want something that's exceedingly difficult and frustrating at the same time, I wouldn't really recommend the + patch that is included with the download of this hack. If you're a fan of both Mega Man 1 and 2 then you absolutely must play this hack!
| Rockman 2DASH - The hack that... | diablo666 | 2021-12-18 | Version 1.0 |
...trying to be complex and interesting, and simple and interesting. These two patches are exactly what they should embody. Rockman 2 DASH - trying to be simple and interesting. To some extent, it turns out. The stages of Robomasters are not without sin, but they are made correctly, qualitatively and interestingly. Really well made. But the stages of the Wily Castle are another story. They are out of the concept.
I do not describe the rest of the stages of Castle Wily - because they really came out honest. However - in most cases - I experienced discomfort from the stages. It seemed that they were more or less of an average level, but there were also frustrating moments. Alas and ah - it really started to be interesting, in some way "vanilla", but not in full image happy with it. Here on your court, because this version is 50/50 out. Rockman 2 Dash (+) - trying to be complex and interesting. To some extent, it turns out. The stages of Robomasters are not without sin, but they are made correctly, qualitatively and interestingly. Really well made. But the stages of the Wily Castle are another story. They are out of the concept. Showed that it "will be more difficult than you imagine"
As a result, it turned out that all the charm and interest were killed by the last stages of this hack. Here, honestly, it's a pity. I really thought this version would come out better. Harder, but not overkill with complexity. BUT NO. Conclusion: "I can't recommend this, because behind the deceptive beginning - you will clearly be very upset by what awaits at the end" P.S. I missed the most important thing. What is common between the versions and their differences. The common features of these versions are: A musical component, a graphic component and the same more or less Wily 6. The musical component - takes music from MM1 and MM2 and tries to work correctly. And, really, it turned out successfully and interestingly The graphical part of the hack is taken from MM1, MM2 and MM3. Honestly, the solution is not entirely clear to me, but I am not the one to judge it. It's just a fact. And, yes - in these versions - almost one-on-one - graphically fall into each other. Stage Castle Wily 6 - That's where they beat interestingly. Really interesting. Part of the Level Design and the entire graphic component is taken from MM2 Wily Castle 4. It's just a fact, nothing more. General and final conclusion about the versions of this hack: "To be honest, I saw in this some reinterpretation of the classic three games, and even I liked all the levels from the Stages of Robomasters. I do not touch them themselves, because they are not changed... However, as soon as I went deeper into the hack - and I got into those parts of the stages where they obviously either cheated, or there were clearly miscalculations in the Level Design. Although I love the Puzzle parts of the levels, however, it should be honest for the player, and not just "Hardcore and go for luck". However - I met it - and I'm upset that a great start, almost "vanilla" - ends with an unsuccessful decision. Try it and you. Maybe I didn't see something, but personally I can't recommend it because of unjustified expectations"
| An interesting mix of MM2 and MM1! | AVIX64 | 2021-09-26 | Version 1.0 |
This hack changes the stages to be mostly based on stages from MM1 (except for Air Man and Flash Man's stages that are based on Wily 1 and 3 from MM3 respectively but that is to be expected), but it also ports over the music from MM1 and also gives the stages new palettes so it's actually a bit more interesting then what you might expect. The levels are very well designed and provide a reasonable amount of difficultly, and aren't too unfair. The level design was quite interesting as well as creative in some areas such as the Item 1-3 puzzles in Wily 1 and the entirety of Crash Man's stage. Although, Air Man and Flash Man's stages might just be my favorite stages in the game, as the level design in them are really interesting mashups of the original MM3 stages that they're based on as well as MM2 Wily 1 and 4. Since this hack mainly uses MM1 aesthetics, the graphics aren't too mind-blowing, although, the new palettes do look really good (the new aesthetic changes as well like Cut Man's tileset being changed to take place at night and the rain in Wily 2 were nice touches), and I also like how Guts Man replaces some of the Changkey Makers. The music is also ripped straight from MM1, which again it isn't that exciting, although one thing I found odd about the music choices is how the normal boss theme isn't used until the boss rush while the fortress boss theme is used in the first fights against them... for some bizarre reason. Aside from Flash Man, the Boss AI hasn't changed much aside from weaknesses, although Air Man's tornadoes now do 8 damage which makes the fight a bit unfair now since the tornado patterns that are nearly impossible to do without taking damage haven't been updated. The weapons have also not been changed aside from weapon energy consumption. So, overall, I'd recommend this to people looking for a good challenge (just make sure to play the original version, the Wily stages in the plus version are pretty brutal).
| Rockman 2: Dash! - EH | Dobu_GM | 2019-04-23 | Version 1.0 |
Rockman Dash Levels: Okay Graphics: Okay (MM1 graphics) Music: Eh (MM1 music) Enemies: No Change Bosses: No Change Weapons: Good (rebalanced ammo usage and damage) Castle: Okay (Platforming Heavy) Difficulty: EASY-MEDIUM Comments: A hack that is primarily reliant on nostalgia for MM1: its stage design, music, and graphics are lifted straight from it. Best part about the hack is it adjusts the values of the weapons, so that metal blade is ineffectual against a lot of enemies and crash bomb is pretty powerful. Wily stages are a big difficulty spike in an otherwise easy game, demanding some pretty precise platforming to complete. While it's a decent hack, it doesn't bring enough new to the table to feel exciting.
