Super Mario Land (World) (Rev A).gb - NOINTROHack description
The aim of this hack was to create a full color version of Super Mario Land. Previously, the only colorized hacks that existed for this game suffered from horrible bugs (due to flaws in how GB Colorizer inserts its code), and relied on emulator-specific functions to run at all. This project was started using the Super Mario Land: New GFX Edition hack by MathUser as a base. Most of the changes to the graphics, level layout, and enemy positions (some changes were made to work around the bugs caused by Colorizer, others simply to create a new gameplay experience) were reverted, and the Colorizer code was relocated and updated to work on actual hardware and the overwritten code was restored, fixing all of the known bugs caused by Colorizer in the first place.Screenshots

This hack would've been easier to recommend before Super Mario Land DX, but as-is, it's not bad. The red water was a weird little touch, and while I normally applaud that kind of thing, the waterfalls in 3-2 really started to mess with my eyes when they got big enough. It also has that problem somewhat typical of colorization hacks where different colors pop in and out. It does have a neat effect where some enemies flash between 2 different colors; I'm not sure if that's intentional or not, but it does look cool.
| Not ideal, but it works | BlazeHeatnix | 2018-08-12 | Version 1.0 |
I'm not a fan of many of the color choices on display here. Superballs are blue, Piranha plants are green, Flies are purple, it's just not ideal. However, the title screen being in B&W is a nice touch, and it looks cool as the game starts and it fades from B&W to color. Unfortunately, this is the result of a glitch, and most areas start like that. It gets distracting, and there are a few other graphical oddities as well. Tiles will randomly flash a different color, there are flickering lines near the HUD, question blocks won't immediately change color when hit, the time counter won't display properly when counting down, and numerous other quirks. Maybe someday SML1 and Metroid II will be colorized without using the outdated glitchy Colorizer, and more like how SML2 was. Until that day comes though, this works for what it is.

I've finally record a video playing this hack on a real hardware and completing the game. You can check the full Gameplay on that video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSsb5hemrQM The rom is working 100% with only a bit of color glitches, but fully playable. Is a great colored version of the first portable Super Mario Game
