Many years ago there was a very cool hack called "Mario Fantasy Adventure", which was apparently originally made by Acmlm. However, while there was some awesome music and graphic work done on the hack, the hack was unfinished and the changes only lasted up until the first temple.Screenshots

I really loved this hack, but I can't recommend for anyone and the reason is logic: That's incomplete. Don't take me bad. I really seen a nice work and the graphics are awesome, but need some features like:
I can say some more things that I think must change, but for now I think that is sufficient to express why I don't recommend this game, because it's still in beta. Unfinished.
| A Good Graphics Swap | keithisgood | 2013-04-25 | - |
Super Mario Fantasy Adventure (v1.2) is a shining example of a successful graphics swap. Usually swapping sprites between games accomplishes little beyond the initial shock of novelty. Super Mario Fantasy Advance finds success where others fail because changing graphical assets and item/spell names in Final Fantasy erases some our ingrained familiarity. This makes for a new-feeling game even on our thousandth playthough. Instead of Swords and daggers, our heroes fight with coins and shells. Of course White Mages can't equip swords, but can Yoshi use Radishes? The additional value in Super Mario Fantasy Adventure lie in discovering which Mario Bros. enemies stand in for Final Fantasy baddies. WarMech's substitution, for example, I found particularly enjoyable. Super Mario Fantasy Adventure also stands above other graphic-swaps in that the graphics are, for the most part, supremely rendered. Use of anti-aliasing, such as on the Bloopers, often gives the sprites a 16-bit feeling on an 8-bit system. The hack also includes a fix which allows a player to purchase items in bulk (instead of one at a time). My only complaint is that there also isn't a battle targeting fix to swap attack focus to the next enemy should a player's targeted baddie die before he/she attacks. I'd also like to see the Four Fiends sprites made more unique; the Mario graphical assets seem pasted on to Lich, Kary Karaken and Timat. I'd highly recommend Super Mario Fantasy Adventure to anyone with the dual loves of Final Fantasy and Super Mario Brothers. The graphical changes breathe life into this old sage of a game.
