Hack description

Here it is, 8 months after Super Mario World: The Lost Adventure - Episode I, isaix finally released Super Mario World: The Lost Adventure - Episode II.

This hack features:

* 79 new levels(more than the original SMW)
* Over 100 custom music
* Custom graphics
* New boss fights
* New power ups
* Custom palettes
* A bit harder than the original game
* Redesigned Overworld Map
* And more...

7/16/2015 V1.1 update:

The main reason for this update is to make some of the difficult levels a bit easier to go through, because some levels turned out to be a bit harder than originally intended. Here's the list of changes:

*Some Levels were edited to be easier
*Some of the slowdowns were removed
*Extra time was added to most speedrun levels
*Some palettes were altered
*The levels "Dark Matter Factory" and "Dark Factory -Hard-" were renamed "Gear Foundry" and "Gear Foundry (Hard)" and the level "Hornet Garden" was renamed "Hornet Factory"
*Minor changes were made to further connect Episode 2 to Episode 3
*1ups and Powerups were added in some levels
*The level Metal Saw Base is now a red dot on the overworld map like originally intended
*An extra patch was added to prevent Yoshi to exit levels
*And other minor changes were made

Have fun!!!

Aesthetes and Masochists OnlyMother Kojiro2022-01-02Version 1.0

As you can infer from the title, this is one of those hacks where you'll want to use saves. If that turns you off, then it's a hard pass, but if you'll suffer for beauty, then I highly recommend this. It does make sense that this would be harder than its predecessor, since it's a direct sequel, after all. You'll see a lot more custom tilesets, and lots of custom music, but you'll also see a lot of impressive gimmicks here. Unfortunately, the power-ups are usually a bit sluggish, and not that fun or useful as a result, and the Bullet Bill Mario from the previous installment is now just Fiery Mario again. If you're in it for beautiful worlds, though, you'll find no shortage of them here; I highly recommend it on that front.

Just play it alreadyTimaeus2015-12-06Version 1.1

Better than the first episode,this hack keeps suprising me a lot.The musics are still awesome and lovely to hear,every single one of it.Is one great musics after another until the end.

Some custom stuffs that deserves attention:the Wario castle,were in the end you fight Wario himself(a fight that I never thought I will see),the goomba castle,were instead of boss,you must kill all the goombas(including big goombas and gigantic goombas)in the currect screen reach the next screen,all the customized enemies(no spoilers),the awesome musics again,all the customized bosses in general(every single one of them)were everyone have their own strategies and varieties(like the 30s survival,bowser jr,the red thrower crab,etc.No ugly koopa kids involved)the 32 bit ghaphics and custom ghaphics(including the night and sunset levels,were all the sprites are black),all the creative and clever puzzles and sections,like the rocket barrel section,imitating the flappy bird game(easier of course),etc

Some others stuffs that I like,the speed city,with the arrows that launch you in that direction very fast(BUT,it does have glitches like warping through the walls and dying when you hit the wall too fast,it must be fixed that),the snow city,with the cops chasing you,that mountain level where you have to shot yourself in barrels to proceed.

But maybe my favorite level is definitely the season stage,where you can use a red pipe to warp to any season(also because of the funny music),some seasons are harder to get through,some are easier.And when you change the season,the enemies graphics,placements and the background changes as well to combine with it.This level was so catchy that I decide to get through all the seasons.I like that.

Of course there“s more and more to explore in this hack.This is one of those hacks that makes you cry when you have to turn off the computer,just because how good it is.But of course it has save-state sections like every single hack,but it does worth it.

Enough said,just download it

(Note: For those who have not played this Hack before, be wary of Spoilers)

First off, I found this to be another very Well Done Hack. I will try to be as Descriptive as I can, but don't expect much.

Level Design: 9/10 I was amazed at the Creativity of the Levels. I mean, really...the Hornet Garden. That made me LOL. Anyways, the Levels were very Creative and provided a Rather Large Challenge (at least, for me). I even Laughed at the Fact some of the Levels said you can't save, yet I could use Save-states & Rewinds, if Necessary. But why is Level Design a 9 and not 10? Level Design lost One Point because even though the Switch Palaces were better than Episode 1, and, to my Knowledge, none of the Levels had places where you had to take a Hit to Progress, there was still "Race Against the Clock" Levels, which I am not fond of. The "Race Against the Clock" Levels, just like The Lost Adventure Episode 1, are Brutally Hard. Other than that, Though, I found the Levels to be very Solidly Built.

Overworld/Sub-World Design: 10/10 The Overworld & Sub-Worlds (Worlds 8, 10, 12, 14, Lost World, Home), in my Opinion, were very Solidly Built. Lots of Twisty, Turny Paths (which I like a Lot), and Lots of Pipes and Stars to send you to the Next Area. Another well done job for the Maps.

Graphics/ExGraphics: 10/10 The Graphics/ExGraphics in this Hack are Phenomenal, just like Episode 1. Having a Hornet Man Background in World 9, a Rocky Canyon Background in World 11, and even Retro Backgrounds, along with 3D(?) Backgrounds in the Lost World. This Hack's Creator did an Extraordinary Job with the GFX/ExGFX.

Sprites: 10/10 The Sprites were very Fun & some were Rather Silly. I'm sorry, but Wario as a Boss...that made me LOL. Anyways, Silliness Aside, the Sprites were Great. Fighting Clawgrip in World 9, Fighting Master Hand in the Lost World, and even Fighting Wart and Bowser Junior in the Home World. I really had Fun with this. Excellent Job.

Music Choice: 10/10 The Music were well Placed in this Hack & Fit the Theme of each and every Level. I was very Happy to hear the Air Man Theme & the Megaman 2 Skull Castle 1 Theme. It really fit the Themes of in the Sky & final Showdown. This Hack's Creator did a Sensational Job with the Music Choice.

Final Score: 49/50 (98% Good Hack) Overall, despite the 1 Lost Mark, this Hack is a Blast & I would Definitely Recommend it for anyone who is new to SMW & SMW Hacking. I Guarantee that you will get a Huge Amount of Enjoyment from The Lost Adventure Episode 2. Make sure you play The Lost Adventure Episode 1 first, though.

A great way to lose your hair, seriouslySparkbomber2013-06-02-

Okay, in a nutshell, this extensive re-working of Super Mario World is: very much fun, extremely frustrating at times and awesomely designed.

Out of a nutshell, the game is a vast improvement over the previous lost episodes hack. Not a single level or part of the world map has been left unchanged, a ton of new enemies has been added and some crazy new power-ups have entered the fray.

All boss battles have been replaced with new and oft challenging ones. And though some cutscenes (ghost house entry, egg liberation and fort destruction) remain in the game new ones have been added and existing ones have been extensively retooled.

The graphics vary wildly, ranging from Gameboy and NES style to almost 32-bit quality. A lot of the music has been imported, but some original works and remixes have been thrown in as well.

As I mentioned earlier, the game can be really frustrating, requiring top-notch platforming skills in the most unexpected ways. It is therefore recommended you use save-states if you wish to play the game without losing your hair to frustrated pulling out of it.

A short recap in pro's and cons:

Good points:

  • Challenging
  • Original
  • Greater variety in everything
  • Long game
  • Custom graphics
  • All new bosses
  • New gameplay elements

Bad points:

  • Lots of "borrowed" music from other games
  • Occasionally very frustrating
  • Some gameplay elements not very worked out/given a lot of screen time
  • Bugtesting could've been better. Some points are almost impossible to cross. (e.g.: In the ancient temple there's a spot you have to pass as small Mario or do a next to impossible crouch-jump-slide maneuver.)
  • Occasional Engrish and poor text-aligment.
  • Lack's the Lost Episodes 1's Bullet bill powerup.

Conclusion: This hack is well worth your time, but playing the previous episode is a must if you want to follow the story. Just be sure to take regular breaks if it gets too frustrating.

Recommended if you enjoyed the VIP series of SMW hacks. I appreciated the joy design of this hack, but at the back of my mind I always felt like it could have been polished a little more.

It seems fairly large. There is also a significant freshness factor that will help players feel that they are encountering brand new ideas as they progress through the game.

This hack represents a good faith effort to rise above what other hacks offer. Try it out and feel it for yourself.
