As soon as I started the hack up, I was completely floored by the new palettes. Not only were the colors prettier, but the actual imagery was sharper; I've played this game more times than I can count, and still, I was seeing some background elements for the first time. When I reached the Misty Area, I was less than thrilled, but its towers were gorgeous, even though their palette was only slightly tweaked. From Branch onward, however, the palettes were left completely unaltered, and in Dartmoor, the menu palette reverts to its original color in most areas. It's a worthy new version, but I'd have liked to see more new palettes.
