Hack description

Mario decided it was time for a vacation, so he went to the Tofu Kingdom for some rest and relaxation. One of the sites he was going to visit first was a famous play where the most beautiful Geisha in all the land performs. When Mario buys his ticket he notices a big ball of light coming from the sky and crashes right into the hall where he was going to watch the play. When Mario arrives at the hall he sees people running out in a panic and some people already dead in a massacre. When Bowser sees that Mario is at the Tofu Kingdom he takes the famous Geisha along with her three uncles, and flies away into the sky. One of her other uncles was lying on the floor and tells Mario that Bowser has gone into the Exile Valley, he also warns Mario that people who went there has never returned. So before he dies, he gives Mario a map where the Valley is located. So now Mario is in a new land, with a new quest, while he's on vacation...

Super Loco Spoof! is a Smb1 hack that was being made while I was working on my other hacks in progress. You'll notice that there's a couple of changes in this hack, like the ability to shoot while being small. Hard players will get their fix since the levels are challenging. So if you have what it takes, help Mario save the Geisha.

This hack has a lot of interesting ideas That I'd like to see utilized in other hacks. Perhaps the most interesting thing is that Mario throws shuriken, even when he's small (and he'll have to, since there are no power-ups), but there's more to it than just that. If the shuriken touches more than one coin in its path of flight, it drops down a bit. This is utilized in certain areas to make it so that you can't hit an enemy from very far away, since there are a lot of coins on the ground. What I'd like to see is utilizing this in the air to screw with your ability to hit aerial targets. The level design is pretty good in the beginning, and will force you to actually think about how to progress. About halfway through (beginning around the beginning of World 3) I'd recommend that you start using states, because some of the levels are absolutely grueling. World 3-3 is covered in bloody spikes and has Baron von Blubbas from Bubble Bobble 2 flying everywhere, making it a Pond of Death. I was hoping to also find a Room With a View of Hell and/or Staircase of Satan, but I'll take my obscure references where I can get them. To its credit, though, it is a very steady difficulty curve. My favorite level is 4-4, where you have a showdown with Bowser in the night sky; it's a short level, but it has quite an impact.

Aesthetically, this is a neat hack, too. The palettes are mostly pleasant, often having a gray hue to the blue skies, though there are the occasional cloudy skies, as well. There are levels at sunset, but my favorite are the dark levels, which are in black with blue and purple elements on the ground. There are a few new graphical elements, but even the borrowed ones are from interesting sources; when you're using sprites from Adventures of Dino Riki, Milon's Secret Castle, and Mystery Quest, you're someone who knows the NES library. I would recommend at least one playthrough of this hack, because it's quite an experience, but be ready for quite a challenge in the latter half!

This hack is just "wow". So much is changed for the better; the palette is just crazy the overworld music is epic and I just love it even that weird fire ball thing you get as regular Mario is flippen epic.
