When I got acquainted with games about Sonic the Hedgehog, I got this copy in the list. (I used to THINK of all HACKS as OTHER GAMES, but I was a naive fool) How did this hack catch on and why do I have it in my Collection of good hacks? 1. Competently made levels. They don't disappoint. Maybe some had to pass for 8-9 minutes, but, honestly, for a beginner - this is normal. Now I pass faster, because I have studied them better 2. Abundance of music. This is the moment I will touch exactly. For EACH ACT has its own music. In those days - how could SFactor boast of this? Although this is from other games, but they are completely suitable for both levels and the boss. 3. Characters. Each character has their own abilities... And not just "Sprite" and behavior like the " original Sprite" 4. The Special Stages. Much more complicated, much more complicated, and much more cunning. Hooked? OH YES. 5. Secret features of the hack. If you pass the perfect hack, you will open a secret mode with 1 life and tricky "monitors". This mode for opening-requires: 6. Customizing the hack to suit your needs. You want this? Put it on! 7. Although not completely, but the classic mode. Rather, "Sonic ТНЕ Hedgehog 1, but the ability of the hack" I definitely say "Yes", because even at this time - the hack does not lose its relevance (and for this hack - motivators make mods for "sonic Mania", but this is another story).
| Lots to Explore! | Mother Kojiro | 2021-12-20 | Version 3.0 |
This hack starts off great with the beautiful Sunset Hill Zone, and while Misty Maze was the only other zone that blew me away aesthetically, it's still quite a hook. You'll hear music from all over the Sonic franchise, including a few from the criminally overlooked Sonic 3D Blast OST. You have your choice of 3 playable characters: Sonic with his homing dash, Shadow with his double jump, and Mighty the Armadillo with the ability to stack different types of shields. All 4 shield types from the 2D Sonic titles are here, and they work just as they did in their original games, including the ability to deflect projectiles. The level design is pretty good overall; you get lots of rings, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to challenge the devious, yet interesting special stages. Misty Maze Zone, however, has a LOT of cheap hits; almost every single one of those drill robots will blast you out of nowhere, and I don't ever remember being hit by a single one of them in the original game. Overall, though, it's definitely worth playing; I'd recommend either this version or 1.0.
| Biggest Sonic hack ever | MathUser2929 | 2016-06-07 | Version 3.0 |
I wouldn't really recommend 3.0 when there's a further revision hosted at Sonic Retro, but since it barely uses any Sonic 1 assets it couldn't be posted here as a patch. But either version is quite impressive. This hack is so renown that NCircle Entertainment released a DVD using the name of this hack as the title for their release. I don't believe it's a coincidence. Give this hack a try as it's so far one of the most extensive hacks released for Sonic 1.
