Hack description

The purpose of this hack was to make the original Castlevania much easier for gamers that find games that aren't too incredibly tough more enjoyable.

Key changes:

- Players begin the game with 5 lives.

- Small Hearts are now worth 2 hearts.

- Daggers have been completely eliminated. They have been changed to either Crosses, Holy Waters, or Axes.

-The vast majority of bottomless pits are eliminated. There are still some left in to provide at least some challenge.

-Simon takes 1 HP of damage from most attacks and enemies.

-More porkchops and other items are hidden throughout the levels. There are even 3 items in Dracula's room!

-Porkchops now heal Simon's entire health bar.

- The corridor leading to Death no longer have Axe-Men and have been replaced by simple Skeletons.

This hack was created with the use of the Stake Level Editor.

Not so difficultandybg462020-01-11Version 2.0

Some say that this version is to easy, and it's true sometimes, but others like some bosses are not easy enough so it's a perfect hack if you don't want to break your screen.

There isn't much to say about this hack ROM, it's simply a simplified version of CV, in this hack you can notice that there are a few holes in the floor, there are rarer weapons, a lot of useless weapons have been deleted, and the life bar decrease more slowly than the original game. This hack is good for those who want play a simplified version of CV, but in my opinion with a minor difficulty the fun decreased a lot. My vote for this hack is for the simplicity 5/5, and for the hack in general 3/5.

If you HATE Castlevania like I do, this is the hack for you!Naniyue2018-02-26Version 2.0

I HATE Castlevania!

I like this hack!

Gone are most of those agonizingly annoying pits, and bullheaded players will enjoy being able to take more hits! Too many mods of this game focus on making things even more painful, so it is wonderful to see one that goes in the other direction.

Highly recommended!

I don't care about most simplified hacks, but this is one I tried and it's pretty good. I've always been bad at Castlevania, so this helps a bit. Although I think removing most of the pits isn't the best idea. The pits are one of the hardest parts of the game, and being an easier hack, it makes sense to remove them, but at the same time, pits are a big thing in Castlevania. Removing most of them almost makes it TOO easy.

Also, I should point out that it's "Castlevania (U) (PRG1) [!].nes", not PRG0. Trying it on PRG0 just crashed the game after the title screen.
