Mega Man Reved Up!! Levels: Eh Graphics: No Change Music: No Change Enemies: No Change Bosses: Eh (mostly damage changes) Weapons: Eh (double ammo usage) Castle: Bad Difficulty: MEDIUM-HARD (Wily stages are HARD) Comments: Reved Up!! is a hard mode hack of Mega Man 1 that fetishizes insta-death mechanics the way Sonic fans do feet. All the level layouts and enemy composition remains the same—you just now have to contend with ten times as many spikes and bottomless pits. At times it can make for an interesting challenge while traversing a stage, but most of the time you'll be groaning in pain as you make yet another four space wide leap over a row of spikes. As if that wasn't bad enough, most of your weapons consume double the amount of ammo and do less damage to the bosses—bosses like Elec Man which can now insta-kill you. And speaking of bosses, 3/4ths of the Wily bosses are immune to your mega buster, so don't be afraid to make ample use of the pause glitch (especially in Wily 4, my god). Reved Up!! is a sizeable challenge for masochists, but everyone else is better off avoiding this cheaply made iron maiden.
| It is not very good, and somewhat buggy | Kallisto | 2017-02-07 | Version 1.0 |
I stopped right at the fight with Yellow Devil because I thought his weakness was bullshit, and soon as I ran out of energy that I could not defeat him after that, I put down the controller, and said "eff this". The enemy placements are atrocious, there is spikes all over the place, and not in very good places at that. Sometimes you can accidentally touch those spikes when you think you're not even touching it. One of the bosses namely Bomb Man was incredibly glitchy, and for some weird reason he could warp you around the room at random (which I assume is a nasty bug), and even when you defeat him that you better be prepared to grab the orb or else it is going to fall into a spike pit! This romhack looks like it was just slapped together, and some of the bosses are a pain in the ass to take out. I cannot recommend this.
