Hack description

This is basically an updated version of Dan Davis' already excellent color file from the Game Boy Colorizer homepage. There are too many individual changes to list, but in general terms here are the changes in the updated version:

-All inadvertently revealed secrets are once again secrets!
-All mismatched tiles now match!
-Small changes to a few sprites.
-Very small color changes to a few background elements.

There are a few minor glitches which are documented at the Metroid Evolution site.

- V 2.0 UPDATE

Spikeman & Drakon fixed a bunch of stuff and made it so this hack runs on the real hardware. This patch runs start to finish on the real hardware without and major issues.

Nice Colors But Needs ProgrammingSephirous2018-04-10Version 2.0

The colors that were chosen look great however there are a lot of errors that seem to occur while progressing through the game. The first noticeable glitch happens during transition. Most of the graphics become garbled causing a 2 second freeze where the player loses control of Samus. Later throughout the game enemies begin to glitch up as the new colors appear over them. At first the screens load in Grey Scale but after about 1 second the colors appear but not always correctly in some lower areas. The title screen also has an error where just above the word "Return" some of the R and E are missing with no color at all. At first glance I thought It may have something to do with the emulator I chose to use but later after some other choices the game still remained glitched and game play remained a disappointment. Last but not least, Upon reaching the Metroid Queen, The game completely blacked out ending in a crash. Once the game was reset all saved data was lost and the game started over from the beginning but this time completely garbled with no visible objects at all. Overall the idea sounded great, I got excited over this patch. But do I recommend it to others? I want to, But there is just to many glitches that still remain in it. A few glitches are okay to work with but having many glitches that render the game unplayable at times...Not so great.

Almost Perfectstcrowe2018-02-17Version 2.0

This is almost perfect. I love the color chose, and it is much better than the color given by the GameBoy color.

The only reason it is "Almost Perfect" but not quite, is because this hack has a game crashing bug.

When you have 16 metroids left, and your going to kill the 16th metroid, the game will crash as you move up the room right before the room with the 16th metroid.

I've tested this glitch with two different ROMs. So the only way to get around this is to play the hacked ROM up to the point of the crash, save, then use the original vanilla ROM, to kill the 16th metroid, save and then return to using the hacked ROM.

Besides that one issue, this is a must have hack.

Great colorization!Peepus2018-01-16Version 2.0

Great color choices make the game more immersive and easier to differentiate areas of the map. Thank you for this! Great work!

Not xbox emulator compatible.keith courage2017-10-12Version 2.0

This hack looks fantastic. The only downfall is it started glitching and crashing once I got around the half way point when playing on a softmodded xbox using xboyadvance. However, the other color hack here on romhacking works perfectly with my xbox emulator. Luckily I was able to transfer my save state to that one instead. Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else has the problem running this on an xbox. Great work on the hack.

Samus' PaletteShadowOne3332012-11-13-

The palettes for the background and enemies are amazing, the only one I have a problem with tis the one of Samus, looks too yellow.

If you could somehow use the Samus palette of this hack: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/204/

I would really appreciate it, the hack would be perfect!

Good Coloring choicesMathUser29292008-05-10-

This is one of the best colorizations I've seen of Metroid 2. It's not overly pastel and just about every sprite seems to have the great pallette choices. As the descriptions says, the colors don't clash and secret tiles are the same color as regular tiles so no spoilers are revealed.
