This was the first Hack that got me to realize there is life after the vanilla versions of one's favorite childhood games.

The maker of this game really nailed SMB2 in my opinion in terms of the feel of the original while adding some challenge and novelty (which is kind of what I gravitate towards with these hacks, something to sort of build upon my nostalgia and tickle the ol' nostalgic funny bone in a way I didn't think was possible). Like, there was something about playing this that made me feel closer to 1988 playing SMB2 as a first grader than replaying the vanilla for the 1000th time now. I think because it was NEW for the first time since way back in the day.

The difficulty was a bit intense for me and I don't know if I would be able to hang quite as well without save states in the last level or two, honestly. But, I was kind of more in awe and the clever design and elegance of the difficulty rather than just straight up frustrated or pissed-like serenely getting one's butt kicked by a master class martial artist rather than just some unskilled heavy hitter (I swear I'm not an aficionado of getting beaten up haha).

So, thanks a lot to maker of this game if you read this (I think the game was created like 20 years ago)!

I'll definitely be returning to this version of SMB2 because it was a pleasure to play!

This is an incredible level set for smb2... it took me many, many attempts and a ton of practice to clear it. I highly recommend this level set for anyone who has beaten SMB2 and wants a steeper challenge.

Worlds 1-4 aren't that bad, but are a bit different than what you might expect. The difficulty starts to climb around level 5... levels 6 and 7 are even tougher.

I highly recommend playing as peach.

This is a great Super Mario Bros 2 hack! The author focused on creating new levels for Super Mario Bros 2. The levels are very well designed and fun to play. Just like the original game, there is a challenge, but never too hard. Overall, this is just a very fun and well balanced hack. A great way to play Super Mario Bros 2 again.

Finished this last week, thought I'd leave a review!

SMB2 was one of the games I grew up with, so, was excited about trying out this hack. I like when hack authors use the original sounds/graphics and simply design new levels for these classic games. It really helps to maintain the nostalgia factor.

Anyway, this hack is definitely a bit more difficult than vanilla SMB2, but I didn't find it extraordinarily so. I think 6-2 was probably the most difficult level. You collect so many Extra Lives with the Bonus Chance though, that nothing you encounter is so difficult that it takes 20 lives to master.

I did notice a glitch, I think, in 4-2 when you ride the Beezu over the top of the castle to the "secret door". If you keep going to the right, you run into some monster amalgamation thingy and the game just freezes. Maybe intentional, so you don't do it again, haha.

Anyway, was a lot of fun to play this hack. If you love SMB2 like I do, give it a shot!

I finished this game tonight, managed to find a warp in world 4 that goes to 6. The game is pretty fun if you have completed smb2 usa version. It's a bit more challenging and i cheated on the last level using save states. Author put some ways around things that normally would seem like you would have to take a hit, great hack!
