Rockman 5 YH - Worthy changesdiablo6662021-10-27Version 1.0

It does not seem to stand out, but there is something to tell about it.

1.Levels. Graphics - I do not touch, because it is original. I'll tell you more about the levels. They are made soundly. Nice complexity that increases its pace over time. It doesn't try to be too complex, which is a plus for it.

2. Initial selection. You are initially offered to play in the following conditions: "Charge Blaster" or "No". This already depends on your skill player. And this is a nice moment

3. Bosses. You know, I thought, " Original bosses, because the graphics in the game are original." BUT I was very wrong. All bosses have different patterns. And this pleases, because to this or that boss-now you need a different tactic of winning and memorizing his other weaknesses. Plus the cherry on the cake - that certainly sounds strange, but Darkman (the final level of the "Protoman? castle") and after the BOSS RUSH. At Dark man - repeats the behavior of the bosses that you saw at the beginning of the game, which is even a little frightening and fascinating at the same time (and this case is not Robo alien?). And I was talking about the boss who is after BOSS RUSH. It looks like an ordinary enemy that we could see, BUT DON't be NAIVE. It has a different pattern and is tougher than you think. So, try it and be surprised yourself.

4. Ability changes. They work in a different way, giving a different approach to their use.

I am neutral about the fact that the enemies here also have their own atypical nature. They are a little more complex, they have different AI, they have different behavior. They dilute the levels, which is good.

Still additionally, as a neutral point, are they the final level of "Protoman? castle" was made completely linear, not as it used to be... blocks were destroyed... And slightly changed the plot, where the Blue Bomber, I was certain that fake is fake and the story a little differently went. Slightly, but come on.

I didn't want to say negative, but Dr. Wily... Easy Machine it. Also disappears in the darkness... They could have come up with a little more original...

This hack gives a "refreshing slice" to the original. Quite pleasant. I recommend it!

A lot more than I expectedSosuko2021-08-19Version 1.0

Given this hack was only tagged as a Level hack, I wasn't expecting the amount of changes and creativity that this hack has. Not only have levels been redesigned to be more interesting and challenging, but the enemies and bosses have been supped up as well. Playing with the additional "no charge" mode made the entire thing a blast that really made me use the different weapons in creative ways. Speaking of which, most of the weapons function differently and are more interesting than their original counterparts.

Honestly, the last couple of levels (Protoman/Wily stages) and improved boss AI are what made the hack for me. There are some awesome ideas executed well, including some tricky gravity sections that while challenging, still felt very fair. Same goes for the bosses. They have more complex patterns, but they are all still learnable and can be reliably dodged after you figure it out.

Definitely recommend this hack to any Megaman fans. The difficulty shouldn't be too off-putting

Not too impressive, but still fun to play.RRThielNC2014-10-06-

For the most part, it feels like the only Rockman 5 hacks out there are Wily's Dream Space, then an ocean of half-assed Chiko hacks. That makes it pretty nice when a hack like this comes along.

Think of this as pretty much Rockman 2 Yendor Code, but for Rockman 5. In a lot of Youtube let's plays of this hack, it is mostly stated that this hack is very similar to Yendor Code, and I would be inclined to agree with them. It may be pretty redundant to say this, but my thoughts on both hacks pretty much mirror each other in a pretty basic way.

But I'm getting off topic. Rockman 5 YH is a hack brought to us by Rock5Easily, the creator of the Rockman Endless hacks. This hack, while not changing the graphics or music, still changes the level design, A.I, and weapons.

I'll start off with the weapons. Crystal Man's weapon flies at an ark and bounces off the floor, Gravity Man's weapon is your run-of-the-mill invincibility in a can weapon, Gyro Man's weapon is a Metal Blade clone(this is not a bad thing), Star Man and Charge Man's weapons are more or less the same, Wave Man's weapon goes in three directions at once, Napalm man's weapon is faster, and can be shot in 8 directions, and Stone Man's weapon shoots 2 stones in front of you, and 1 behind you.

The enemy and boss A.I is pretty nice. The enemy A.I is only different with a select few of enemies, but the enemies that are changed are nicely done. The boss A.I is also well done. Unlike Yendor Code, each boss provides just enough challenge, without getting too brutal, and are also lots of fun to fight. Also, just thought I'd mention it here, but YH will NEVER come close to the difficulty of Yendor Code.

The level design is very polished and fun. It's quite a breath of fresh air when compared to the Rockman 5 hack norm, which seems to be making it a difficult as possible. Just like the bosses, the difficulty level is just right. It never gets too hard and never gets too easy, making this hack pretty damned fun!

In conclusion, Rockman 5 YH, while not as pretty as other hacks, is still pretty good. It's perfect with it's difficulty, it's A.I changes are pretty impressive, and overall, it's just fun to play. I say you should give it a try!

One of the best Rockman 5 hacks out thereSatoshi_Matrix2014-05-04-

It seems that Rockman 1 and 2 are always getting hacks, so I'm excited whenever I see people hack 4, 5 and 6.

The original Rockman 5 is an incredibly easy game thanks to to the Super Mega Buster, which Capcom has even gone on record as intentionally making overpowered because they wanted a change of pace from Rockman 4.

In this hack, you can actually go as far as disabling it, making the gameplay similar to the first three games.

Like most hacks, the stage layouts here are more difficult, although not considerably so. This moderate bump in difficulty means this is playable on the original hardware without the crutch of savestates. You'll probably die a few times until you learn the levels, but that's par for course like any other Megaman game.

What's exciting about this hack is the novel re-usage of many of the original game's core ideas. For example, in Wave Man's stage, there's still an auto-scrolling jetski section, but the this entire section is mirrored so you'll be traveling to the left instead of the right. This change makes for an entirely new feeling and it's things like thia that make this hack stand out.

In addition, many of the minor enemies have new attack patterns, as do all of the robot masters. They aren't as aggressive as some in hacks, but they aren't push-overs like the original Rockman 5. I'd put them about equal with the bosses from the original versions of Rockman 4 and 6.

There is no new music or altered graphics here, but the robot master weapons are all new, and for the most part, much better than vanilla Rockman 5. For example, replacing the Gyro Attack is Gyro Blade, which behaves like the Metal Blade from Rockman 2, being able to be thrown in any direction. Even one of the best weapons from the original - Gravity Hold - has been replaced by an awesome new weapon called White Room, which acts like an offensive version of the Flash Stopper from Rockman 2.

Finally, there are small engine tweaks that fix small issues in the original Rockman 5 engine that most hacks wouldn't bother to address, such as Megaman now being able to ride atop of the drills in Napalmman's stage without falling off.

This is one of the better hacks out there, and highly recommended to vets of the underrated Megaman 5.

Difficulty is always relative to the player. For veteran players with experience with challenging games, moderate difficulty is boring. For beginners players without experience, even moderate difficulty may be challenging.

This patch surely is aimed for veteran players. The levels and bosses were redone and were designed to test the players skill. It isn't impossible to defeat them with the correct approach. However, many save states will be used until the correct strategy will be consolidated.

Veteran players who want a challenge may find this patch interesting. Casual players who want a quick game without a fuss won't enjoy this patch.

In one of the stages, it is necessary to climb the tress to proceed. It is not apparent, but the tress are actually stairs. Without this knowledge, the player can be stuck in the stage.
