Hack description

The purpose of this hack was to make the original Castlevania a little more challenging for gamers that have already beaten the original and crave a new, yet familiar challenge. The game is not meant to be impossible, just a bit harder than the original.

Key changes:

-There are more bottomless pits throughout the levels.

-There are less Porkchops throughout the game.

-Simon begins with zero hearts. Small Hearts are worth 1 heart and Big Hearts are worth 3.

-10 Hearts are required to use the Stopwatch

-The palettes of every level has been edited to give the game a bit more spookier atmosphere

This hack was created with the use of the Stake Level Editor.

There isn't much to say about this hack because this reach well his purpose, that is make the first CV game little harder, but has some defects that I want to speak about:

1) First of all I can't understand why Simon has a yellow skin, what is this? A Chinese Simon Belmont? Going forward in the levels you can notice that a lot oft things are yellow, but some of these things are sensible (like cave and palace floor) but other are totally no sense like yellow skeletons and palaces walls yellow (we are in Transylvania not in China or into an Egyptian pyramid)

2) The second problem is that this hack isn't a lot more difficult than the original game, some parts are harder than the original but some parts are easier than the original, so I think that the creator must add more difficulty to this hack.

My vote for this hack is 3/5

I don't understand why people think that making more bottomless pits makes a hack "so much harder". The reason why bottomless pits are a threat in the first place is because enemies can knock you into them, so just putting "more" of them isn't enough to make it more challenging. You need to put more enemies, and use them in clever ways to make it harder. That's all I really have to say here.
