Hack description

This patch does four things and four things only:

The rest of the game has been left entirely untouched, to allow for easy patching into virtually any working hack (barring a large amount of custom code already having been implemented).
The idea was to implement some user options into FFIV that were not introduced in the franchise until later games.

This bundle now also contains an extra patch, "Change to Cache." This allows access to The Big Chocobo's extra inventory from the menu screen. Please read the Readme for more information.

***Version 3.1 corrects a bug from version 3.0 that broke dashing and slow flying functionality on the Moon and Underworld maps**

Perfect base for hacking projectsff4tweak2022-05-17Version 3.1

Once you experiment dashing in a town as Cecil there's no turning back. The ATB meter and the skip turn options during battle are great to enhance the strategic part of the game. Perfect for FFIV hacking projects too.

Make sure to read the readme file included in the download!

The hits just keep comingSpooniest2015-03-09Version 2.2

Yes folks, this is awesome.

Chillyfeez has outdone himself and given us a truly unique experience with this hack. Dashing is a little clunky compared to the official versions that have such a function, but it's still better than plodding through Baron Castle trying to get to Cecil's bedroom so you can begin the game.

Switching characters during battle adds a tactical element to this hack that you don't often see in romhacks. It's such a simple thing but it's nice to be able to skip to another active member instead, without wasting a turn.

Cheers, mate! This one's a keeper!

An Absolute Must Have!Bahamut ZERO2015-02-01Version 2.2

I highly recommend this to anyone, whether they're working on a project with FF4kster, or simply playing it again or for the first time. Having functions from later games breathes some very fresh air to a game I already enjoy a great deal!

Makes playing the original fun againRodimus Primal2015-01-04Version 2.2

In todays age of all Final Fantasy games having B Button Dash, a visible ATB meter, and the choice of Active/Wait, it was a shame the NES and SNES games don't have these options. But thanks to this, Final Fantasy IV can be played on the SNES with these options available. No longer is it a chore to walk everywhere or have to waste a turn on a character. Giving newbies the option to choose Wait so they have time to pick an item or spell helps tremendously.

Just what FFIV needed!FlamePurge2014-12-26Version 2.1

This modernizes Final Fantasy IV in small but necessary ways. It makes battles run so much more smoothly. I personally love to apply buffs before actually fighting a foe, and so this lets me skip to a white magic user's turn without making my fighters and black magic users defend. Being able to choose between Active and Wait modes is also a nice addition!

Furthermore, dashing and vehicle slow mode lets you take more precise control over exploration, and get through small side trips more quickly.

Recommended especially for those of you making difficulty mods, as turn deference and ATB gauges would help your mod's players strategize better.
