| Flawed by using Bad Dump | persechini | 2024-04-20 | Version 1.01 |
This patch uses a bad dump rom as base instead of the no-intro rev 0 or rev 1 roms, so it's a pain to find the proper rom to patch. I got it patched on a rev 0 rom using skipping the checksum but it didn't work properly
| Huge convenience, poor choice of source ROM | chibikami | 2019-07-28 | Version 1.01 |
This patch does what it says and does it well Unfortunately, it also espouses one of the largest flaws with the xdelta format: forced CRC checking (which can be disabled by the patch maker but not the end user) Not normally a problem if the patch was made with a good dump of the ROM, but as you can read on the page it was made using a specific bad dump What's the problem with using a bad dump? Aside from that the mere phrase "bad dump" should alarm you by default, let's pretend for a moment that you ripped your own copy with your own equipment-you will never get the same CRC whether you do a good or bad dump Which leaves us with hunting it down on the net, a growing impossibility as romsites are more interested in hosting good dumps unless they're geared toward hosting goodsets So I kind of have to give it a strike due to inability to apply the patch to a good dump of the ROM
| Makes the game much more playable. | DarkFire117 | 2017-07-07 | Version 1.01 |
You can now progress through the game without breaking the tendons of your hand so that's definitely an improvement and you can still use the touchscreen exclusive stuff just by actually using the touchscreen. In the end, improves dramatically the game experience while still giving you access to the gameplay that nintendo designed.
| Improves controls dramatically | TheZunar123 | 2014-12-07 | Version 1.01 |
I like Spirit Tracks, it's one of my favorite Zelda games. One of my only gripes though was the controls, and this fixes that, for the most part. I was hoping the controls were fixed for not only Link but for the following sequences, for example helping Zelda escape the castle, and inside the Tower of Spirits. It would've also been nice to have some of the train controls on the D-Pad, for example have the track switch mapped to L and R and the gearbox mapped to the buttons (i.e. X and B scrolls the gearbox, Y or A blows the whistle), but I completely understand if that is difficult to do. I haven't played that far into the patch, but I haven't had any problems so far, except once the game froze but it worked after a reset. Definitely recommend this patch.
