Improves responsiveness. Makes playing more enjoyable.

Back in the NES's heyday, developers had a thing for fluid, natural motion. It worked fine for Mario, and even Megaman had a subtle slide when he stopped walking, but whoever worked on this game gave Batman the most frustratingly sluggish reaction times imaginable, along with slippery walking animations, and a vicious knockback distance when hit by enemy attacks.

Thankfully, this hack corrects all of that, and it's a much-needed sigh of relief. Walking and changing directions feel much faster and smoother, and knockbacks are not nearly as punishing as they were before. The tighter controls makes the game much more enjoyable, especially now that the overall difficulty stems from the level and enemy designs, and not from Batman's janky handling.

The idea of going back to the way things were before is now unthinkable. This is an absolutely necessity to a game that's hard but otherwise remarkably decent. Highly recommended.
