A fantastic first release from one of the most talented new artists on the NES scene. By far the best looking of any "upgraded graphics" releases for SMB1, I highly recommend checking this one out.

PROS: All graphics appear to be original and have a very distinct-and consistent aesthetic to them. The mushroom power-up, for instance, is the best looking mushroom sprite I've seen. Everything is gorgeous to look at and full of detail.

CONS: Some palette decisions are questionable (darker outlines for clouds than for the ground plane, or making both the underworld and the fortresses teal, for example). Also, some walk cycles are awkward, such as those of the main player and the turtle enemies.

OVERALL: I'll actually be playing through this one entirely, just to see everything in action, and I eagerly anticipate any other releases sics has planned.
