Hack description

I personally find the voices added to the gba version extremely annoying and overused. This patch removes all voices and adds the death sound back from the SNES version for both Mario and Luigi. US version now has sounds for e-reader levels.

I mean ... it does what it doesbenfromnesuniverse32023-02-13Version 0.2

And when I say it does what it does, it removes the charm from the game and makes it feels less magical.

Yeah sure I guess it does remove the "annoying" voice lines, but most people have zero problem with this and I honestly feel like they give the game some identity and colour. Hearing Charles Martinez voice Mario in SMB3 seems surreal, but if for whatever reason you find the voice of Mario annoying, somehow still a Mario fan, then sure play this hack.

I came here looking for exactly this patch. Thank you for saving my ears from the horribly compressed, repetitive, tinny, scratchy, and repetitive pain of adding voice clips to a classic game just because they could.

Absolutely makes the game worlds better!

Here's an ACTUAL reviewSeizureSonic132017-09-19Version 0.2

This is a good hack that disables the voices in this game, it works really well and if you dislike the voices.

That being said, if you DO like the voices, no one is stopping you from playing it without this patch.

Let me repeat myself for those who seem to not understand how it works

YOU DO NOT NEED TO USE THIS PATCH IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO.

I didn't think I had to say that, but apparently some people seem to think that just because the have no interest in something that they need to waste their own time writing negative reviews.

Tl;dr This hack works excellently. Well worth applying if you feel like a more traditional Mario sound design. If not, enjoy the the original without pissing on someone's hard work making this hack.

I tried playing the original gba version, and couldn't even get through the first level before dry retching, and powering off. Mama Mia indeed...

The overt Italian stereotype that has pervaded Mario's character since Mario 64 is wearing a bit this at this point, and is both culturally and aurally offensive.

Thank you mangaman for the opportunity to run, jump, and fly the iconic silent protagonist through this hand-held version.

PS If you like the voices, you can still play the original, no one is taking that away from you. Keep your "irrelevant, and unnecessary" reviews for really bullshit hacks. Given that this is a re-released game, changing it to more accurately reflect the original is perfectly legitimate. Whether you like it one way or the other is subjective, and your review should reflect that.

No

Just

No.

I don't see why this is getting praise, because the voices...

...are not even bothersome. Ever hear of minimal voice acting? This game is proof that it works, but removing them just makes it seem like it would never work. I have to agree with the other review on here.

I like the voicesMathUser29292016-06-05Version 0.2

I feel the voices add a lot to the game so I can't recommend this patch. I mean if you wanna pretend your playing the boring ol SNES version then I guess it's good. For me, I like voices tho. If only the cutscenes were voice acted too.
