Works great for mezoinknoise2022-04-28Version 1.0

This review is mostly a response to the previous reviewer, who claims to experience some serious issues with this patch. Well, it works just fine for me, and I even stacked this patch on top of no less than FOUR other patches. I don't hear any audio glitching when pulling a giant vegetable, and Mario Bros. Classic works perfectly fine. I'm playing on a real GBA SP via an Everdrive cart.

Overall a great idea, and I'd love for it to work. There are however a few annoying bugs with this hack.

Whenever you pick one of the giant items from the ground (giant vegetable or Koopa shell), the sound makes a horrible, staticky, garbled, screeching sound. I'm not sure how common these are through the rest of game (I've never really played through the "Advance" version), but the first level has plenty, and they all screech when you pick them.

Also, the Mario Bros Classic mini game doesn't seem to work. Selecting it returned me to the title screen (emulator), or crashed the game ("actual hardware").

Both of these issues happened in an emulator and on "actual hardware" (a 3DS VC inject, so *close* to actual hardware).

If these issues were fixed, I'd definitely recommend it, but I have a low tolerance for things that feel "broken". If that doesn't bother you, or you think it's a worthwhile trade-off to silence the character voices, then go for it.

My favorite character is Toad but his constant, shrill voice would drive me up the wall. Now with this improvement, I can play in peace.

Very necessaryAr8temis0082017-05-27Version 0.1

The voices in the first game were the worst of the series. This plus the color restoration is the best version of the game.

No

Just

No.

I don't see why this is getting praise, because the voices...

...are not even bothersome. Not to mention that removing the boss voices practically kills the mood if they just show up and just do a an idle animation before they fight.

Boss Voices Removed?Rafaelele2016-08-02Version 0.1

It makes sense to mute Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad since they literally won't stop running their mouths. Same can't be said for the end-level bosses, especially considering each one only has 1 thing to say before battle, and 1 remark when defeated. It really feels awkward to enter their lair; the music building up suspense, and carefully approaching them...only for them to give our protagonists the silent treatment. Please include an IPS where the boss voices are restored.

The most annoying aspect of Super Mario Advance has been rectified after 14 years.Bluestreak2015-11-04Version 0.1

I can't be more glad that most of the voices are gone. They were incredibly annoying to hear every five seconds, especially Toad and Peach's voices. The only thing I wouldn't mind is an alternate version that uses the NES version sound for picking up something, and the NES version's sound for when enemies getting hit (I guess an NES sound version, in which recorded NES sounds replace a lot of the voices.)

This seriously fixed the worst thing about the game. Teamed with the colour restoration hack, the definitive version of the game can be made.
