AFF Challenge - BADDobu_GM2022-08-25Version 1.5

AFF Challenge

Levels: Bad

Graphics: Bad

Music: BAD (holy crap)

Enemies: No Change

Bosses: Okay (damage tweaks)

Weapons: No Change

Castle: Bad

Difficulty: EASY

Comments: I typically don't review visual hacks like Atari Man or Roll-chan, as there's little to say outside of "looks good" or "looks bad" (although Link Man is pretty impressive for how extensive it is), but AFF Challenge tweaks its stages just a teensy bit, making it fair game. So... it's a bad hack. Its best trait is that Mega Man has been infused with Quickman's DNA, allowing him to run super fast and jump super high. But rather than stop at a simple physics adjustment, the hack's author gave the entire game a terrible makeover, including childish sprites, putrid palettes, and some of the worst music you'll hear screeching out of your speakers. Seriously, listen to Ice Man or Fire Man's levels—they give Crazy Bus a run for its money! Lastly the level "changes" are laughable, with stages being 95% the same except for a random block or missing ladder bit (which never matter given that you can jump over anything). It's a dumb hack that's only worth a download if you wanna speedrun Elec Man's stage or bare witness to some horrifying audio abominations.

The physics and level design are interesting and actually enjoyable enough. However where there is a problem is the music... which the best way I can describe it would be if you put multiple stage tracks into a blender, something comes out with the parts of the different tracks not in a logical coherent order... and it feels like one of those ear worms I used to get when I was a 10 year old and played the Game Boy too long. This is Megaman, the tracks are timeless... these remixes are painful.

High jump is now default.ActionHenk2019-11-20Version 1.5

Your jump is very high, which makes the game almost easy. Levels are also modified.

Not much to say about this one.

This hack is at least original.
