Hack description

Here is a ROM hack which allows you to play either the Famicom Disk System version of Zanac or the NES version on one ROM. SRAM is also added to the new patched ROM and the mapper has been upgraded to MMC1.

In the .RAR are two ways you can patch. The .BPS file is a ready made patch which can be applied to an NES ROM of Zanac as listed below in the ROM/ISO info box. The other is by using the patching program where you will need the original NES ROM, the FDS ROM, and the DISKSYS.ROM all together in the same directory for it to patch correctly. Either one will get you the desired end result.

Great! But what does the SRAM support actually do here?capncrunch9922022-09-27Version 1.0

So this hack adds a very straightforward multi-boot menu allowing you to choose between the FDS/disk (Japan) version and the ROM/cartridge version. Although the differences between the two are fairly trivial, it's still a welcome feature for enthusiasts.

But what does the added SRAM function do? As far as I can tell, it doesn't save high scores or progress. If I play the ROM version that has the continue feature, resetting or powering off doesn't allow me to continue.

The patched ROM does indeed indicate the presence of SRAM support, but I have no clue if any data is being written, or what that data contains. Maybe the author could shed some light on this, because the readme file unfortunately does not.
