Hack description

This is a hack of our old-time fav Super Mario Brothers 1 for the NES. Mario has been abducted by Cyber-Ridley and taken to Zebes, and Samus' mission is to save Mario so he can go back to Mushroom Land to save the Princess.

The hack was created by me and took just a couple of months. Specifically, I've worked on this project from December 2003 to February 2004. Every level and almost all graphics has been changed from the original game. The fireball movement has been changed as well!

Reviews

A solid experience of Metroid with a Mario TwistKallisto2015-09-12Version 1.0

This game was played on FCE ULTRA GX

Story:

Samus must save Mario that was captured by Ridley! Samus must travel through Planet Zebes to send Mario back to his own world.

  • Music:

It uses the classic Mario music, but I feel this was a wasted chance to use actual Metroid music to enhance the experience.

  • Gameplay(Pros, and actually no cons!):

I actually had a good time playing this game as it plays exactly how a Mario game should play. The gimmicks were kept in a classical Mario form, and I never encountered anything that was really cheap or difficult at all. It is definitely a perfectly balanced game.

  • Graphics:

I can tell there was some trouble importing Metroid enemies as some of the sprites could use some cleaning up especially Ridley himself, but this was not the case for all sprites. The fireball enemy seems pretty random, and looks like it came from another game. It must be some kind of inside joke if anything. The tilesets were pretty clean for the most part.

  • Conclusion:

I definitely recommend this for all players from beginner to master level, and they should have good time with this one.
