| Harder, but not exactly better | BlazeHeatnix | 2018-08-16 | Version 1.1 |
I tried out both versions of this hack and compared it with the original final boss. In both versions, the boss's health is beefed up a considerable amount and made larger, so standing at its feet and firing directly at the weak spot is no longer possible. The head's first set of eyes have been changed to look more like a skull. In version 1, the tail spits out numerous spiked balls before pausing for a split second while the head occasionally produces a homing egg. While this does make the boss harder, it does so in a very artificial way. There's only a split second where you can hit the boss, and because it takes so many hits, it wears on your fingers and gets very monotonous after a while. I do not recommend this one because it's just not fun. Version 2 makes it so the tail occasionally spits out a spike ball while the head produces a bunch of homing eggs. This is better, but it's not without its own problems. As long as you stand on it, fire at its eye socket, and time it so you're not in the line of fire of the spike balls, this is almost as easy as the original! Also, the original boss was a spectacle with its eyes shooting lasers and spike balls raining down constantly. Even though it was too easy, it still looked and felt like a final boss. Here, there are moments where the boss will just stand there not doing anything for a few seconds. Kinda boring. Really, all that needed to be done to make the final boss harder was make it larger and increase its health. If it were just that, this hack would be fine. But the overhaul to its attack pattern ruin it for me. | |||
