Rockman 2 - Dr. Wily no Nazo (Japan).nes - NOINTROHack description
This hack is an addendum to the Rockman Exhaust hack. The original hack by DHI is overall very fun, but unfortunately, it has several issues that are more or less game breaking. This hack attempts to fix these issues in order to make the game more enjoyable.Screenshots

| Rough around the edge, not really memorable | Sosuko | 2020-11-23 | Version 1.1 |
This hack does change quite in bit in terms of enemies, levels, bosses, and (some) weapons, but the execution is somewhat hit or miss. There are a few random difficulty spikes here and there, while at other times sections and bosses are complete cakewalks. As an example, though Airman's stage itself had some pretty difficult wind-influenced platforming sections with small blocks and spikes overhead and below, Airman himself now shoots away from you half the time, making him a complete joke compared to vanilla. As mentioned, some weapons have been changed up, but not so much so that it becomes memorable. Also, Metal Blade is still the "destroyer of worlds" and once you get it, there is rarely any reason to use anything else. The Wily Stages do showcase some particularly clever (if not somewhat trolly) layouts and tweaks to certain bosses, however there are also several points of frustration where you have to rely on the Items with no way to easily get more energy for them if you screw up. There was also a particularly annoying disappearing block section that seemed to rely on how the screen was scrolled in order for the blocks to actually sync up (meaning with bad luck the jumps were impossible without Item use). To sum it up, most of the memorable parts of this hack were the points of frustration. If you've played through the many other MM2 hacks and are hungry for more, give this one a play, otherwise, I'd recommend checking out some of the other ones available
| Rockman Exhaust - Revamped - GOOD | Dobu_GM | 2019-04-26 | Version 1.1 |
Rockman Exhaust - Revamped Levels: Good Graphics: Good Music: Good Enemies: Okay (Few Changes) Bosses: Okay (Few Changes) Weapons: Bad (Few Changes) Castle: Good Difficulty: EASY-MEDIUM Comments: A solid entry level hack with some weird jumps in difficulty (Flash Man's stage, Heat Man). The new music and graphics are a big plus, but there's not a lot of changes in the weapons you obtain nor some of the bosses (their new arenas are their greatest strength). The Wily castle is pretty solid, except that the bosses are a complete cakewalk. An all-around balanced experience for the most part.

Now overall this romhack isn't terribly bad, and it is beatable, but there is a lot of stage design mistakes, and a lot of cheap death traps that unfairly punishes the player, and there are times in stages where you get cornered by so many foes at once! (Also you'll be forced to use Save States for a few choice areas) The bosses can be a little cheap unless you have their weakness (especially for Metal Man & Crash Man). The Wily Fortress Bosses haven't changed much except for one which was replaced by a Met Machine, and a invisible Wall Attacker (you'll know when you see it, and use Crash Man's weapon on it). Unfortunately this romhack does have good ideas, but just suffers terribly.
| There Are LESS Stress Inducing Rockman 2 Variants Out There | FreightMan71 | 2017-02-05 | Version 1.1 |
I gave this a shot as Mega Man/Rockman 2 is my favorite of the original series. Still even with the 'revamps', there are too many areas where mandatory hits are the order of the day and thus suck much of the fun out of this. I like a good challenge as much as the next masochist, but I just didn't have fun with this one. If you like bone breaking hard, then go for it, but for the rest of us, other MM/RM 2 hacks do a better job in the 'fairness' department. Invincible enemies on platforms a mere two characters wide that you HAVE to land on, being blitzed with bullets with no real way to dodge, having enemeies drop from the sky on critical jump areas, and, (gasp), INVISIBLE floors (Air Man stage I believe) with invisible PITS...yikes! Yea, that last one was the straw that overburdened the camel....I quit and deleted it at that point.... Sad to say, NOT recommended unless you go in KNOWING the game is going to be unfair from the start.
