This does exactly as advertised, and is a nice Quality of Life improvement. A good patch to be sure. Having said that... I know that this is a very simple hack, having looked into button-based dash patches on Final Fantasy entries for the NES, and I am not aware of the hacker's level of expertise, but there's some room for improvement here. 1) As Final Fantasy Restored and Final Fantasy Restored II now both have world map dashing (or at least FFR's can be implemented on World Map with a very minor tweak), it would be nice if this patch allowed for World Map dashing. 2) NPCs that follow you (fifth party members one could say) do not walk one tile behind you. Rather, they seem to do some pathing calculation due to occasionally lollygagging behind you a step or two now and then. With this patch, it becomes very... janky, as they'll wander through walls and get stuck on wall- (and screen-) walking behaviors that is rather immersion-breaking. A rewrite of this NPC behavior for a simple dash patch may be asking too much, but I can't imagine anyone else would edit this behavior explicitly since it isn't a problem except for with this patch. | |||
