Hack description

This is a very simple modification that improves the spell list in the following ways:

1. The spell names are made consistent with modern Dragon Quest localizations (with the exception of Repel, which is kept the same due to character limits)

2. Spell names now use mixed case instead of all caps.

Seasoned fans do scoff at this.Abacos2024-05-22Version 1.0

Let me start with a little bit of history: Dragon Quest (1986) drew inspiration from Wizardry (1981) and Ultima 3 (1983). Spell names in both sources were "nonsensical but cool-sounding" magic language, and so were spell names in the Japanese version of Dragon Quest. In 1989, the American localization team chose to use spell names closer to Dungeons & Dragons, and that is still acceptable, because the aforementioned Wizardry and Ultima 3 are inspired by D&D, too.

On the other hand, the 2008 localization team decided to throw all the above in the bin, and chose onomatopeic spell names. Awful idea. Are you bringing that silliness to the NES? Please allow myself to disagree.

The opposite should be done, instead: "errata corrige" patches that bring the official Japanese names to the modern localized ports.
