| Excellent improvement in Sprites, It needs to be applied to S.C.A.T Special Cybernetic Attack Team | edwinmusic | 2019-11-12 | Version 2.0 |
They have done a great job in Version 2.0, the improvement of the sprites of the protagonists has been greatly improved, as well as many other details. This is a great job that should be applied to S.C.A.T Special Cybernetic Attack Team, taking into account the variety of details between the games, such as their difficulty level and amount of lives! Final Mission and Contra fans would be very grateful! ;)
| Interesting to see this hack | Idleward | 2017-07-27 | Version 1.0 |
I can't help laughing once I saw the title "Air Contra" - When Final Mission was played by most people in China back in 1990s, it was called "Air Contra" as "Contra" was such a success and players in China tend to "name" all 2-Player shooting games as SOMETHING Contra. Not many people spoke proper English at that time, not to mention pupils who were the main source of players at that time so the name "Air Contra" was seldom challenged even though "Final Mission" was clearly not relevant to "Contra" if anyone look those words up:) Anyway, Final Mission was called Air Contra, Kage / Shadow of Ninja was called Riverside Contra. It was so interesting to see the "same translation" coming from other culture. haha. Thanks!
| Decent hack! | herno | 2017-07-23 | Version 1.0 |
This is a very cool concept. I like the name Air Contra, definitely makes a better version of S.C.A.T. Definitely feels like a Contra sequel that would have happened back in the day had Konami decided to go a different route with the series. Maybe they should have teamed up with Natsume and made this happen instead!! However, I do have a wish list of sorts for the guys who created this. While using the Japanese version was probably much easier than the American or European versions, it would have been cool to port the English dialogue from the American version to flesh out the translation. It would have also been cool to come up with a storyline/plot to tie-in with the Contra series with a return of Red Falcon or something along those lines. Another small gripe, I would have rather they utilized the increased power bar from the American release, as the 3 hit Japanese version makes the game pretty tough. Overall, I definitely recommend this. The complaints are very minor, and like I said, maybe we can see those improvements in future updates to this nicely thought out hack. Well done!
