Raiden Densetsu ~ Raiden Trad (Japan, USA) (No-Intro 2016-01-31)

Hack description

Seibu Kaihatsu's Raiden was ported to many systems. While the Sega Genesis port was rather accurate in terms of content, graphics were simplified and many details were lost.
This hack aims to change that:
- fully reworked sprites, background tiles & color palettes
- stage transition scenes & loading screen (red eye) restored
- most palette based animations restored, e.g. stage 1 river, stage 5 yellow lights on buildings, lamps and engines on enemies and player craft
- see readme file for details

This is a big deal.Electric_Lizard2019-04-21Version 1.01

This effectively makes this the best home console version of Raiden Trad, finally surpassing the version on the PC Engine.

I never liked the Genesis port before this version. I wish it had been this way when it was released.

Thank you. This is fantastic work.

Flowing Rivers!ArugulaZ2018-03-10Version 1.01

This hack brings a lot of zest to an adequate but not exceptional port of Raiden. Onscreen sprites are brighter, but beyond that, the rivers that were static in the original Genesis release flow like they did in the arcade version, thanks to clever palette cycling.

Sure, it's not 1991 anymore, and there are more faithful versions of Raiden available. Nevertheless, I appreciate the effort that went into making the Genesis port better, and I can't wait to get it on my Flashback HD when it arrives. Kudos to the developer!
