| At the end - I couldn't pass honestly | diablo666 | 2022-12-18 | Version 1.7 |
Welcome to the re-review of the hack. This time I was able to pass the hack, but... Not everything is so rosy. MOST OF THE Design Levels... IT's really good and interesting. Everything is quite well thought out. However, the World 8-2-2 (8 world, 2 road to the boss, 2 screen) is a screen with too clear timing, which, personally, upsets me. Of course, you can learn how to pass it, but this is a problematic area. I can pass without damage, but it's problematic. World 8-3-2 (8 world, 3 road to the boss, 2 screen) - I'm stuck there on spikes that I can't really clearly fly over. It is necessary to stand up somehow gracefully, which leads to death. And if you have 0 lives, THEN you have to go through 8 worlds from the very beginning, which is a shame But the trouble, as always, lies in 8-2. There's a double boss here. The problem is that I couldn't pass it HONESTLY... Only with the help of "save and load". Why is that? They are the same color, BUT they have different patterns of behavior. They don't act the same. And often this happens to the fact that one has got into position to reset the lights, and the other is flying diagonally (or straight) at you, which makes it difficult to dodge these two. Either both attack with fire, but do not leave windows to save from damage. Here, either remove one boss, or change the flasks from 1HP to first aid kits (full health). And if the second is something else, it is desirable to make these bosses - in different colors. As I said earlier, the hack is excellent in Level Design, but the final is difficult to pass honestly.
| Full featured hack that dials the difficulty up to 11! | kaeon | 2022-07-21 | Version 1.7 |
This is a great hack that changes the up the format and makes some good really use of Nemo the character. It's great that each level isn't just going from animal to animal, but rather encouraging the player to explore as Nemo and then also as your animal companions. This hack does a phenomenal job of gradually ramping the difficulty with the most difficult platforming and puzzle solving happening at the very end. AND IT GETS TOUGH! This hack makes use of every Little Nemo trick in the book, so be ready to use every Little Nemo game mechanic you can think up. It took me a little over 90 minutes to complete this hack on my first attempt. Be sure to collect as many lives as you can in the early game. The late game will devour every last one of them. I highly recommend this hack to any fans of the original game.
| A great remake of an already great game! | cecil255 | 2022-04-19 | Version 1.7 |
A great remake of an already great game! This hack takes everything you know about Little Nemo and turns it on its side. It's much more than just being able to use the wand from the beginning. This changes the strategies as well as the levels and makes for an almost all-new game. I've loved the NES Little Nemo game since I was a kid and still do, and this hack really was fun and challenging. I noticed another reviewer said the game couldn't be beaten because of a problem in 8-2. That's not true AT ALL. I know the part they're talking about and it is a bit of a challenge but not at all impossible. It just takes a bit more critical thinking in some spots than the original game. Some of the animal friends are harder to get to as well, but getting their powers is all that much more rewarding in exchange. That said, if you're just wanting a straight platformer and hopping from one block to another, this might not be the game for you. If however, you're looking for a little more challenge than that, and some spots that will make you stop and go "hmmm" for a minute, then this IS for you.
| A Great New Twist! | Mother Kojiro | 2019-04-17 | Version 1.0 |
Not only does this start you out with the wand, but it uses it quite extensively. You'll have to switch to the wand frequently to deal with the enemy onslaught, though it doesn't really get to be obnoxious. That's the key, really: a reasonable challenge, and this provides that throughout most of the game. The wand recoil puzzles in Nightmare Land were a bit difficult to figure out, but once you do, only one is really frustrating. I didn't play the version with a boss at the end of Dream 6, but the one at the end of Dream 5 was an interesting new experience, because there are no boss fights in the original that allow the screen to scroll. There are also tons of neat little secrets to find that made the stages even more fun to explore. Definitely worth your time, if you're any kind of Little Nemo fan!
| Worth a play if you are a fan of the original or platformers in general | djnforce9 | 2017-10-11 | Version 1.0 |
I absolutely love this hack; especially having played though the original "Little Nemo: The Dream Master" many times. It always annoyed me that you only get the wand during "Nightmare Land" which is consist of the last stages in the game (and even then it's only used sparingly). It would have been so useful in many other parts where enemies are difficult to pass. This hack makes the wand into a core gameplay mechanic throughout ALL levels. It also changes the styles of some areas from being purely "scavenging keys" to straightforward action and sometimes the key collection is made into a mini-game at a specific part of a level. I also love the added boss fights which is a very nice touch and makes excellent use of the wand. The animals make a return but are not overused like in the original and are instead for special parts of the level that utilizes their abilities to the fullest. Outside of that, everything should seem familiar. The level themes (and especially the fantastic soundtrack) and character handling remain unchanged although the levels themselves are all remixed to make better use of the wand and for variety. I'd strongly recommend this hack if you've played through the original and want some variety or even if you haven't tried the base game and want something more action orientated rather than mostly "dodge enemies, ride animals, and collect keys" like the original.
