Hack description

This is a hack that has you going through a min. of 100 rooms filled with enemies with an occasional power-up. At the end is a fake Bowser and a door leading to the final boss. All that in four levels! WOW!

The Removal of 100 Hair FolliclesRonko Phoenix2024-03-23Version 1.0

From what I played, most of the trials consist of pure enemy spam, which is not helped by the rarity of power ups. However, the most tedious, infamous part of 'The Pit of 100 Trials' is the Bill Blaster/Para Bob-omb auto-scroll section, featured in "Trials 1-25." The camera work is abysmal, blocking most Para Bob-ombs from view and causing them to crash into Mario from off-screen. Throw in the plethora of Bill Blasters, periodic explosions that cover most of the platforms (VERY few btw) and the camera vertically shifting away from Mario soon after and you got yourself an absolute nightmare to tread through. Not to mention, one of the Pirahna Plant rooms can softlock you as big Mario because of the 3 sets of 1-block tall holes, and the skull raft will sometimes be absent in one of the Spike Top rooms. If this hack ever gets re-released, it's going to need a serious revision. Even if the rarity of power-ups is intentional, the level design, camera work and enemy placement should at least be polished to make up for that. As the hack stands today, it is nearly unplayable for casual gamers. There is a much better, more thoughtful "100 Trials" hack that I managed to complete a long time ago.

This is a very challenging and yet fun hack. Sadly, it was never completed, but it was still fun. Just looking for a hack to waste a little time? Try this one.
