| Replaced the Original For Me | tacodaemon | 2023-03-17 | Version 1.0 |
Until I read another review of this hack, I never realized that there was any difference in the original red coin sprites, and I've played this games repeatedly since release! I actually played through the entire game wit this hack and find every change to be an improvement. Thanks so much.
| Finally I can enjoy this game | InAnotherCastle | 2021-11-09 | Version 1.0 |
Simply put, this hack makes a great game finally playable for me. First and foremost it fixes an issue that's been a deal-breaker. The crying. I'm unable to play the original without turning it off after a short while due to that sound. The red coins is another thing that's really helpful. I don't know if it's the deuteranopia or they were really meant to be almost completely indistinguishable from other coins - but that's how they appeared to me. This hack also addresses that. I don't have an opinion about the other changes made. Note: This works on real hardware. I've replaced the ROM on my original cart with a copy of this hack :-)
| A big improvement | YoshiWhite62 | 2021-11-09 | Version 1.0 |
I was never bothered by the crying baby Mario, but I was playing this hack and I enjoyed it without hesitation. The reason I recommend it is because now the red coins are visible. It may seem unnecessary, but in the end you will appreciate the changes
| A great improvement but why change the font? | ITOM | 2021-05-04 | Version 1.0 |
As said in the title, the hack itself is a great improvement and makes playing the game way more acceptable. The only problem I have with it is the changed font. Just why? It's not mentioned anywhere in the readme and I'm just wondering what's the point of it? It just makes the game more different for no reason
| Purely Improvement | aleckermit | 2020-02-09 | Version 1.0 |
Simple yet noticeable changes to make this game purely more enjoyable without any sacrifices to the original experience. The definitive way to play this game now.
| Welcome modifications. | Wayn0rX | 2018-05-16 | Version 1.0 |
I'm glad hacks like this exist for those of us who find value in them. I've personally never liked Yoshi's Island. It does not seem like a worthy sequel to Super Mario World. This hack addresses a lot of the problems I have with the original game. I'd personally prefer if the jumping physics were adjusted, because I've never enjoyed the "straining" Yoshi does. It doesn't feel satisfying to me. For people who don't like this hack, luckily the original game is still there for you to play.
| Why? | Mysterii | 2018-05-12 | Version 1.0 |
Just by making this hack, you managed to make this game less of a challenge and for that matter the "annoying" sound effects. The point of the Red Coins is that you are supposed to be able to distinguish them from regular coins, and you still can even without this hack. Since when were they annoying? I've been playing the original and the GBA version for years and never had I thought "I hate [insert changed/removed sound here]"
| Brilliant modifications! | lexluthermiester | 2018-04-01 | Version 1.0 |
Crying Mario is easily at the top of many a list of most annoying video game elements ever created. This was so annoying that I personally never got passed the first few levels. Now I'm having a complete blast! The creator of this patch has done the world a great service in making it. The other sound FX are also good and add value to the experience as well. Trisma, on behalf of gamers everywhere who wanted to or did play through this game, Thank You for such an excellent patch. Highly Recommended! Very Highly Recommended..
