Hack description

Have you saved your game in Super Metroid but are stuck in the final area: Tourian?

This simple improvement hack will unlock the 2 doors which prevent you from back travelling. As the final save point is normally after the 2 locked doors, this will now allow you to use it safely and allow back travel to Crateria.

Note: This will also work for existing save files. For save states you must load the state, then save the game at a designated save point and reload the game (a save state will load the old doors).

Works perfectly, compatible with Control Freak. Must Have!Jacksaur2021-09-04Version 1.0

This hack + Control Freak perfects the Super Metroid experience in my opinion. Having played through the series gradually, I'd planned to go back to each one again once I was finished to 100% them all. Finding out that you were permanently locked in Tourian after saving was a blow, but this hack fixes that perfectly. The cutscene doesn't even replay or anything.

Now you can finally complete the game whenever you want, and then go back to look for any missed collectibles in your own time afterwards.

A Fix To One Of Nintendo's Biggest Screw Ups!Sephirous2018-05-21Version 1.0

All of the times that I have played Super Metroid I couldn't believe that Nintendo actually prevented the player from returning to the surface if they accidentally saved at Tourian's Second Save Location. I mean who wouldn't want to save there just before Mother Brain in case you lost against her? And to add to that, Say you want to go back and get 100% collection data. With no way to return you would have to start the whole game over and hope you have the patients to do it again and survive. Well, Thanks to this patch that no longer has to be a problem. You can easily back track any time you want and even if you manage to collect all the items first shot, You can now go back and just play around in areas that were once locked if you saved the game in Tourian's Second Save Location.

Do I recommend this? You bet! How Nintendo messed this up by not letting you back track? I have no idea!
