Hack description

The "Mega Man X6 Tweaks Project" is a compilation of QoL hacks, gameplay improvements and localization restorations for Mega Man X6.

This is a set of three stand-alone patches, which serve as samples as well as templates of the options available in the Mega Man X6 Tweaks Patcher.

* Mega Man X6 Tweaks Workbook

Features from v1.x:

Parts, Ranks, and Nightmare Souls:
* Parts are no longer permanently missable (see Rescuable Reploids)
* Parts allowance by Rank has been edited from 0/0/0/1/2/2/3/4 to 1/1/1/2/2/3/4/4 so you can equip at least one part right from the start.
* Rank progression has been edited from to 0/200/300/500/800/1500/5000/9999 to 0/200/300/500/800/1500/3000/5000, so Level 4 boss battle start sooner (Rank PA, 3000), and the added unlockables of Rank UH can be reached without excessive grinding.
* Story scenes unlocked by reaching 3000 are now split and set to match Rank PA (3000) and Rank UH (5000) respectively. This allows you to encounter Nightmare Zero Lvl. 4, which isn't possible in the original game (Lvl. 4 bosses appear at Rank PA, Rank PA requires 5000 souls, but at 3000 souls the game would trigger an event that would make Nightmare Zero not appear anymore).
* Dynamo's Green Orbs drops have been increased from 200 to 400 souls (each). If you're grinding souls with Dynamo, you might as well get it over with faster.

Rescuable Reploids, Nightmare Virus:
* Rescuable Reploids reappear after getting infected or killed, as if you've never encountered them.
* All rescuable Reploids not holding any items are marked as "MISSING" at the start of the game, drastically reducing the number of Reploids clogging stages (keeping only the ones that matter).
* Rescuable Reploids no longer give extra lives and health. Instead, you get a consistently higher number of lives (from 2 normal/4 with EX Tank, to 4 normal/6 with EX Tank).
* Nightmare Virus' Blue Orbs will always appear (would normally reappear only after a Nightmare Effects has been activated for the corresponding stage)
* Blue Orbs left alone won't turn back into a Nightmare Virus

Player Mechanics:
* Shared Character Stats: X and Zero now share Heart Tanks, Life Up parts, Energy Up parts, Souls, and Rank.
* Dash and Air Dashes with the Hyper Dash part equipped have been made a bit longer.
* Unarmored X and Shadow Armor now also have the ability to Air Dash.
* Height of Zero's Hyoroga and Shadow Armor's ceiling jump has been increased (enough to reach Rainy Turtloid's ceiling).

Unlockables:
* Beating Nightmare Zero on Lvl. 4 unlocks Zero's Black Armor. This is coded in the original game, but the original souls requirements for Ranks/events wouldn't allow it to happen normally.
* When X and Zero reach Rank UH, the Ultimate Armor and Black Armor will be unlocked respectively.
* Cheat Code 1 (Ultimate Armor) now gives both Ultimate Armor and Black Zero.
* Cheat Code 2 (Black Zero) has now been repurposed to start the game with Zero, making a Zero vs. Nightmare Zero match possible (you can have him earn his Black Armor himself)
* Both cheat codes can be combined.

Others:
* "Exit Stage" button always available.

New and updated features in v2.x:

Localization:
* Script based on DuoDynamo's incomplete translation. NectarHime's script rewrite was used to fill the gaps.
* Font replacement for stage dialogues and menus (Gemini's Blood of Bahamut)
* Variable font spacing for both the new font and the regular one.
* Restored all missing voice clips from the japanese version. Some are included on the default patch, the rest are available as patcher tool options. (Hack Credits: DarkSamus933, initial research).
* Title screen from japanese version, with the "Mega Man" logo edited in (Art Credits: Metalwario64)

Player Mechanics (X):
* Activate Incomplete Armors: Armor abilities and enhancements are now linked to their individual armor parts instead of the armor itself. You can now get access to the armor as soon as you get the first part and get its abilities progressively, like you would in X1-X4.
* Blade Armor: "Hybrid Mach Dash" controls. You can have both the normal behavior of the Mach Dash (with a stop mid-air) when pressing "jump", and a immediate, more maneuverable air dash with the "dash" button. Speed and duration of either can be set separately.
* Blade Armor: improved "Hold/Release" input option. Direction press will also count as "hold", as it does on a regular Dash.
* Shadow Armor: when sticking to walls, you can also slide down by pressing down.
* Improved control of the Saber animation. Cooldown has been shortened.
* To balance the shortened Saber animation, dash cancelling has been removed (can still be enabled to both X and Shadow X in the patcher).
* Falcon Armor's Air Dash jump button input has been removed.

Player Mechanics (Zero):
* Sentsuizan: improved "Hold/Release" input option. Tremor sound effect won't play if the technique is cancelled before it makes contact. Direction press will also count as "hold", as it does on a regular Dash.
* Sentsuizan: input has been remapped (from "Up + Attack" to "Down + Special")
* Ensuizan: "Air Move mode". Can now only be used in the air, but let's you do multiple spins in a row by holding the button.
* Ensuizan: input has been remapped (from "Down + Special" anywhere, to "Special" in the air)
* Guard Shell: it gets it's own input combo ("Down + Special" while on ground), making all weapons available through input combos.
* Control of the third slash Saber animation. Cooldown has been shortened.

Damage Table:
* Blade Armor's charged Buster damage has been increased (now handled by modifying damage tables instead of external code).
* Blade Armor's charged saber "tip" deals +1 damage against all enemies
* Z-Buster damage has been slightly reduced against bosses
* Slight buffs to most single-hit special weapons against common enemies
* Damage against Nightmare Snake has been doubled.
* Damage against Commander Yammark has been slightly reduced.

Boss Health Bars:
* Commander Yammark and Ground Scaravich have increased Health Bars. Others received minor modifications for consistency.
* Nightmare Snake health bar has been cut in half (this, and the x2 damage buff by damage tables, match the x4 damage buff in previous versions of the patch)
* Nightmare Mother health bar has been cut in half (matches the x2 damage buff in previous versions of the patch).

Boss Attacks:
* Commander Yammark: increased damage to all attacks. Projectiles are now indestructible. Reduced idle time.
* Blizzard Wolfang: increased damage to all attacks. Projectiles are now indestructible.

Stage modifications:
* Amazon Area: the ceiling has been extended on the equally infamous blind jump in the section with transport enemies over spikes.
* Recycle Lab: the long jump leading to the Capsule and Hidden Area has been shortened by a couple of tiles. The hidden area portal has been moved to the left side of the jump, so you're not forced to exit the stage if you chose the wrong path without the requirements to make the jump.
* Secret Lab 1: removed a few spikes to reduce Armor/Parts requirements to be able to go through. X can now pass through using only Ice Burst (and dash jumping very carefully)
* Secret Lab 2-2 (X): a platform can be added to the infamous jump section (Credit: DarkSamus933)
* Recycle Lab/Secret Lab 2-2(Zero): if crouching safely on a tight spot and let go of the down button, you'll be locked in the crouch position until the ceiling rises (instead of getting immediately killed).

Custom menu options:
* Navigator (Alia alerts) and Nightmare Effects can be enabled/disabled anytime during gameplay from the setting menu within the pause menu.

Cutscenes voiceover
* Voice-over won't be cut when pressing the button to display the whole block of text, will be cut when moving to the next page instead.
* Slight speed up of text.

Unlockables:
* Cheat Code 2 (Unlock Zero): You will now start using Zero from the Intro Stage.
* Unlockable by Rank UH: A message in the "Mission Report" screen will notify any secret armor unlocked by reaching Rank UH.
* A flashing effect was added when Zero himself gets the black armor by defeating Lvl 4 Nightmare Zero. Normally, it would simply change to the black palette immediately.

Custom art:
* Custom mugshots for characters that didn't have one: the intro stage Hunter and Dr. Light (Art Credits: Metalwario64)
* Cleaned up and custom mugshots for existing characters (Art Credits: Metalwario64)
* Custom palette options for X's Ultimate Armor and Nightmare Zero (Art Credits: Metalwario64)

Balance:
* Continues will now take you to the start of the stage (now extra lives mean something)

Fixes from the original games:
* The Guard Shell glitch (you no longer get multiple extra frames of damage with any attacks overlapping the shield)
* High Max health bar size not updating correctly to match his level
* Wrong mugshot animation timming on Commander Yammark and Infinity Mijinion
* Swapped icons for the Hyper Dash and Speedster Parts
* The "overwright" typo on the Save File screen
* The missing description for the Rekkoha in the Mission Report screen
* Zero cutscenes defaulting to X's version when you load a saved game
* A miscolored boot on one of the cutscenes

Pretty good but still has flaws.Adachi2024-07-18Version 2.6

The hack itself is awesome but I have a few problems with it.

1: Removed guard shell glitch, making the already bad boss rush even worse.

2: Not nerfing Gate and High Max at all

3: You are still forced to revisit almost every stages to 100% the game thanks to the alternate portals (APs), some understandable like in Shield Sheldon and Infinity Mijinion but others, not so much. So why not just replace reploids that don't have parts outside of the APs with the ones that do have parts inside the APs? The same goes for items like the subtank in Blaze Heatnix.

4: Getting everything in Ground Scaravich is still a pain due to the heavy reliance on RNG.

5: The boss rush section being boring as always.

That is all for now, hopefully these will get fixed soon.

Literally made an account just to praise thisLFDream2024-02-26Version 2.6

I have no idea how I've ever had the courage/perseverance to beat this game without this hack in the past. The base game is borderline unbearable (it still feels quite unfair even with the tweaks at a few points) but with the tweaks it feels like a worthwhile challenge if you are passionate about the other games of the series. I whish there was a speed-run category for this hack, I think the routing would be phenomenal.

I take my hat off for this hackCuriosityKills2023-07-04Version 2.6

Played entirely on Xtreme difficulty, with all items collected (except for one reploid at the end of Metal Shark Player's level, i had no patience). I kinda enjoyed the original game. All those new ideas and features are cool, but the game is a poorly cleared job. I think the developers never played the game after was done. There's sections that piss me off! And this hack doesn't fix this, because the problem is mainly the level design. But this hack was a way better playthrough for the aspects that were modified. I played almost every level with nightmare effects and navigation turned off. I played on Xtreme difficulty, which made me die a lot in the first levels i played. I like this because you keep playing, gathering souls, finding items and getting strong to finally clear the levels. This had me unlocking the ultimate armor and the black armor with like 50% of the game concluded, which I thought was too soon. Just increasing the number of souls needed to get this things would be interesting. Well... is a very nice hack, really enjoyable. Who made this knows there's a lot to do to make this game even better, but i bet is not easy.

An absolute mustLite 642022-06-23Version 2.6

Look, I used to be a big time apologist of MegaMan X6 and to this day I still get a kick out of playing it, but even I have to admit it's brimming with glaring issues that are sure to turn away most people from enjoying it to any degree. It's a game that was made in a haste in less than a year, and it shows. Baffling design choices are found at all corners, and they render what could've, and really should've, been a fantastic game into a grueling experience to all but the most dedicated of players. It's not a friendly game to beginners and I imagine most of those who enjoy playing it have put a lot more time into figuring out its inner workings and nuances than the average person would tolerate.

Make no mistake, I'm not shaming anyone for liking X6 and as previously mentioned, I myself have fun with it. If nothing else, the core MegaMan X gameplay is still there and as solid as ever, and the game gives you the tools to deal with most of its unfair obstacles, even if getting them is often obtuse and unintuitive. Music and visuals are up to snuff (outside some instances of questionable spritework) and it has no shortage of interesting gameplay ideas. There's reason to like this game despite the myriad of valid criticisms thrown its way, but it's clear that it had massive room for improvement.

This is where X6 Tweaks comes in. The amount of hideous flaws in this game that could be fixed with simple modifications is simply put, insane, and this hack does exactly that. The infamous Nightmare system, which could make any Maverick stage become worse by orders of magnitude, is now completely removable. Instances where you needed a specific character or part to progress are eradicated. Rescuable Reploids are no longer permanently missable. And the list goes on. Anyone who's played this game can tell you these steps go a long way.

The customizability is also worth noting. It's extremely comprehensive as you can modify the game to your own liking down to the frame data of X and Zero's attacks and the HP of bosses. The latter one in particular is very appealing to me as I've always found the Maverick fights ended far too quickly, especially as Zero, whilst others like High Max overstay their welcome to a tedious extent.

As stated in the title, this mod truly is an absolute must for anyone who has any interest in replaying X6 or especially experiencing it for the first time. I can't stress enough how much it improves the game, the team behind this project deserves a good deal of applause for their efforts. But be warned, despite all the greatly appreciated touch ups, the design of the game is still mostly intact.

The way that most of the levels were laid out was deeply flawed in and of itself, and that'd require more than just the tweaks we were given to be truly fixed. Personally speaking, I'd love to see a mod of X6 where the levels and bosses were overhauled to make for a better experience while maintaining as much of the original game as possible. As an example, Blaze Heatnix's stage could have less of an emphasis on the donu- um, Nightmare Snakes in favor of more platforming challenges. The infamous purple fanta section for instance, could be turned into a non-auto scrolling rising lava segment, akin to something like Flame Stag's stage from X2.

I'm just daydreaming however, and I understand that this is far beyond the scope of the project and the current available knowledge of X6 modding. I have next to no programing skills, so I can only imagine the challenge that creating such a mod would entail. As it stands now though, X6 Tweaks is by far and away the definitive way of playing the game and I'm quite happy with what has been done.

Great tool, mediocre configSprite:D2022-05-23Version 2.6

This hack is an utterly brilliant work with an outstanding amount of options available to tweak the game to your liking, fix the horrible translation and even slightly revamp some visuals. It is possible to make anything with it's patcher tool - from a hypothetical next revision of the game to a fully revamped to your tastes version.

However, while this does not in any way stop me from recommending this, but the default config is, honestly, a mess - some things like Nightmare Snakes and Mother were made into jokes that require nearly no effort to defeat, while Infinity Mijinion of all bosses became even harder to defeat, and with the change to the lives and checkpoints, this makes Xtreme more miserable than the original could ever dream of it being, and some weapons such as Zero's Sentsuizan turn from fun, even if having glitches, to mediocre.

I would still like to say that no matter what was said about the config above, this is still the best version of the game you can get as you can tweak it to your liking and do things that the official releases never did and never would, but I'd say it's better to do the tweaking yourself rather than rely on the default configuration.

As good as it gets.BlazeHeatnix2022-05-11Version 2.6

Many areas in X6 are improvements over X5. The presentation is much higher, Alia is off by default, etc etc. It's even got some honestly good ideas at play. But like with X5, for every good design choice there are at least three bad ones. I know it's a meme at this point to explain how X5 was meant to be the conclusion, but that shouldn't be counted as a point against the game. There are plenty of tv shows and movie franchises that once had a grand finale that wrapped up their plots, but then managed to go on anyway. TV Tropes calls this the Post-Script Season. Thing is, this doesn't have to be a bad thing. Many of those Post-Script Seasons ended up being pretty good regardless. The same could've been true for X6. As long as Capcom kept up the same quality and effort fans had come to expect from the X series, things could've turned out well enough.

But that quality and effort, by and large, just isn't there.

The two most fatal flaws X6 has are its translation, and its level design. The original translation of X6 was so bad, it's up there with Zero Wing and Breath of Fire II as one of the worst localizations in gaming. X5's translation was already mediocre, but this is a whole new level of bad. It betrays what is honestly a good story and turns it into a joke. As for the level design, the strength in Mega Man's gameplay has always come from it. It doesn't matter how good the mechanics are, or how well everything controls, or how much some things have improved since X5; if the stage design is awful, the game is ruined. And that's exactly what happened. There are a grand total of two well-designed stages in the game: Blizzard Wolfang and Metal Shark Player. That's it. Every other stage is littered with cheap, artificial difficulty: unfair situations with even more unfair enemy placement. Not even the intro stage is exempt from this.

Which brings us to X6 Tweaks, which comes with an entirely new, very nice retranslation of the game (seriously, very well-done compared to the X4 undub hack) and it also does a lot to mitigate most of the less-fatal flaws X6 has, which is just about everything else fans have analyzed to death over the years. The lazy Nightmare effects, the one-time deal for rescuable Reploids, the armor system, Zero's controls, and a lot of other stuff that helps balance the game's difficulty.

But what does it do for the level design? Basically nothing. It does fix a small handful of areas to be completable without needing specific parts, armor, or weapons to do so, but you still have to deal with Ground Scaravich, you still have to deal with Blaze Heatnix, and you still have to deal with all of the final stages. While this is the best way to play the game, the game itself isn't much more enjoyable in the long run. I understand that there's only so much the hack authors can do given the circumstances, but that's the unfortunate reality. This game just can't be salvaged enough to warrant recommending playing the game.

I also have to question some of the options that are on by default. In X6 (and X5) lives have no meaning, because continuing puts you right back where an extra life would've put you anyway. This rendered extra life pickups and the EX Tank to be meaningless. The author's way of fixing this was to go back to the old way, where losing all lives resets to the beginning of the stage. The problem is X6 is unfair. No amount of skill will prepare you for what X6 will throw at you, where you need prophetic reaction time to deal with things. So when you die in X6, chances are it wasn't your fault, and you're going to feel cheated. Yes, you can fix this in the patcher (check "infinite lives", trust me) but the way I would tackle this instead would be to remove some of the game's checkpoints, and even then keep it to Xtreme mode. At least then, I'm not encouraged to kill myself to reset my lives counter.

Mythbusters once had an episode where they tried to determine if a turd could be polished. Turns out, it can. You can polish it to a mirror sheen, and roll it up to be as smooth as a cueball. But don't be fooled by how it looks on the outside: it's still a turd, and it still stinks. This is the best way to play X6, and anyone who wishes to play X6 for themselves should be using it, but don't believe all those gaming articles that say it "fixes" X6. X6 is beyond fixing. This ends up only making it more tolerable, not more enjoyable.

Turning copper into gold (or bronze in this case)Justhereforthegames2021-10-05Version 2.6

Mega Man X6 is a game with flaws. A LOT of flaws. Rushed out the gate (heh) less than a year after the intended series finale of the X series, X6 is something of a horrible disaster all things considered. The level design is atrocious, the plot is weird and at times nonsensical, the translation is full of typos and bizarre lines, there are numerous gameplay issues and glitches that crank up the frustration to a ridiculous degree. It's not a very fun game and it might just be the worst of the X series (though X7 is also in the running for that title). Nevertheless, the fans are here to fix it, and fix it they have. The Tweaks patch for X6 is an absolute godsend.

Tweaks is something of an understatement, this patch flat out rehauls the game into a much more enjoyable experience. Not only has the dialogue been completely retranslated and restructured to flow better, the bizarre plot actually now somewhat makes sense (though this tragically comes at the cost at some legendary lines and mistranslations). Gameplay elements of the original product that hamper the experience greatly (the horrible Reploid rescue system, the nightmare effects and souls, inconsistent difficulty, etc) have been altered significantly to massively alter them or removed entirely, even including adding or lower HP for some bosses. Commander Yanmark, a complete pushover in the original, now puts up a fight. The awful snake mini bosses in Blaze Heatnik's stage (all 7 of them) have had their health lowered, making fighting them considerably less of a headache. Furthermore, new dialogue sequences have been added to levitate some of the game's more oblique segments (for example, there's a fake wall in Shield Sheldon's stage that leads to an armor part which you have to stumble across at random in the original. The patch adds a pop up hint to tell you something is in the area).

The two best change in this patch comes in the form of the Nightmare and upgrade systems. What once forced you to rescue dozens of Reploids throughout each stage, with the threat of permanently losing health and weapons power ups, has been totally revamped, with Reploids and their powerups no longer being forever locked out of your save, as well as not showering you with unneeded extra lives. With the upgrade systems, both X and Zero now share heart tanks, and armor can be equipped regardless if it's fully complete or not (these issues also affected X5). This is the saving grace of the hack. If it was just these two features, I'd be giving it a glowing review anyway, but the fact it's just one of dozens of other additions and fixes astounds me.

Don't get me wrong, X6 is still not a good game. Somethings physically could not be changed, mainly the questionable level design and high difficulty (though there's even an added easy mode for inexperienced players), but with this patch, a poor game has been alleviated into a good one. This is a must download, for all X fans.

It is now the BEST Mega Man X game 10/10Radiaz2021-09-16Version 2.6

Mega Man X6 is an unfinished dumpster fire. Everybody knows that. But it has a lot of unrealized potentials. This hack realizes those potentials.

You can do a LOT of personal tweaks for this game, such as:

  • Annoying Nightmare Effect is no longer permanent
  • Zero & X share life and energy bar
  • You can use Zero from the START (this was always intended by the game)
  • You can unlock Ultimate Armor and Black Zero in-game (this was also intended)
  • You can make the bosses harder
  • You can reduce Ultimate rank requirement, no longer at 9999 souls nonsense
  • You can make Blade armor buster stronger, no longer a garbage armor
  • You can make Blade armor air-dash normally, no stuck with Mach Dash
  • Brighter and better artwork
  • You can ACTUALLY USE Zero's ice move against Turtloid (again, as the game always intended)
  • You can KEEP the Guard Shell glitch if you want!
  • And many more!

X6 is rushed beyond imagination. The game implemented many new things that can not be accessed. It's so unfinished. Still, a few groups of people knew, there is an unpolished gem hidden beneath the glitches.

Thanks to these few dedicated people, Mega Man X6 now shows its full potential. Now I can enjoy the good stuff like saving reploids and parts management without Nightmare Effects permanently annoys you like herpes. Seriously, parts management in this game is so fun. Shock Buffer, Defense Barrier, Ultimate Buster, Hyper Dash, Buster Plus.... THESE THINGS ARE SO FUN DUDE!

Thus I unironically say, tweaked Mega Man X6 is the best Mega Man X game so far.

Makes a garbage game somewhat playableSupergamerguy2021-06-22Version 2.5

Don't even try to play the original version now that this hack exists. The Tweaks patch fixes just about everything wrong with the original game. I still don't think the inherent design is any good, but at least the game is playable now.

I love being able to use your armor parts at any time, as it allowed me to get all of the upgrades around the time I played each stage instead of backtracking after all 8 Maverick stages were done. The Shadow Armor is also now one of my favorite armors in the entire series. As far as I could tell, the Shadow Armor's ninja star weapon was removed in favor of buffing the melee sword option immensely, which allowed me to shred through enemies and bosses alike. It's one of the reasons I saw this game through to the end, that and the air dash that was also added to the Blade Armor.

Overall, I still wouldn't recommend Mega Man X6 to anyone but Hardcore fans of Mega Man intent on completing the series, but if you do want to play this game for any reason, this Tweaks hack is mandatory.

Makes An Intolerable Game Much More TolerableEldrethor2020-03-17Version 2.5

When I first reviewed acediez's hack in its earliest form, it did away with many of the awful things that made the game hard in a not-fun way, including the Nightmare Effects, Alia's dialog prompts, and whatnot. Back then, it was already a great hack that made this awful game a little less awful. Fast-forward to 2.5, and now we have a hack so full of features that it finally makes the game enjoyable.

The feature with the most impact is being able to use armor pieces as you find them, rather than having to collect a whole set. Being able to use each new ability I found gave me a sense of growth, and the leg pieces alone paved the way for early exploration. Individual graphics for each piece aren't rendered here, so X looks like plain X until the armor is fully assembled, but that's a small nitpick. The visual impact would do a lot for the game if someone were to make it happen though.

Visually, the new title screen looks great, and the new portraits are fantastic. The perspectives are much more natural than in the original, as are the revamped dialog and typeface.

The numerous changes to the armor upgrades are also a huge bonus. Whether it's the Blade Armor's reworked dash, or the Shadow Armor's faster saber, or the Falcon Armor's invincible dash, each of them now feels much more competitive versus the well-balanced Ultimate Armor. In fact, I found myself straying away from the main story to experiment with them using different side parts.

As for Zero, his changes are less drastic but still have a huge impact; the hack streamlines his abilities with re-assigned button combos, so you won't find yourself unintentionally dive-slashing into pits from a rope.

Ultimately, the game still has its problems; you can still cheese with Zero's saber combo, X's special weapons are still mediocre, stage designs are generally still awful, and whatnot. The patch doesn't fix everything, but it brings a lot of quality-of-life changes to the table, and makes an overly punishing game a lot more fun. Much praise goes to everyone involved in the project.

The Best of the BestAceearly19932018-08-15Version 15

For any instance this mod makes Mega Man X6 far more enjoyable than the unedited original.

One brilliant thing is players can now fully experience the Level 4 variant of Zero Nightmare which happened to be left out of the unedited original, and players can even get Black Zero as a reward of beating Level 4 Zero Nightmare - it's another unused trigger that was left out of the original!

The re-purposed secret commands gave new life to this game; it's unimaginable to have Zero available from the start of the game, without the X-only extra steps in order to unlock him. And a 10/10 for making Zero vs. Zero Nightmare legit available. (Check the dialogue between Zero and Zero Nightmare in Amazon Area, it's fantastic.)

Zero's Sentsuizan is still hard to use and the ultra long cool down time after landing is still there, but hey, making the dive slash able to cancel during midair is already hundreds time better than uncontrollable. But just like the unedited original, Sentsuizan itself removes Zero's invincibility flash after being damaged so player must take some time in order to get used of the "new" Sentsuizan control scheme. (The "new" Sentsuizan control scheme is a bit like E-Blade rising stab from X5 which player must hold the sub attack button to make extended attack/diving length)

There are still many things that can be considered, like adjusting the HP value of Level 4 Zero Nightmare to be a little higher (above 4-12 HP values higher than original) through the tweak patcher, the original value always seem to be a little too low, making the key fight unlocking Black Zero less intense. Also it would be cool to be able to customize the saber damage output of normal X and all his armor variants through the tweak patcher.

Recommend this hack/mod/tweak to any Mega Man X fan, and anyone who wants to experience Mega Man X6 once again from scratch.

Brilliant HackCupshadow2018-08-06Version 14

For people who really hate this game I really recommend to patch the game with this hack.

This hack not only allow you to get ultimate armor x and black zero at the same time. It also change some game mechanics to make game more enjoyable.
