Hack description

Here it is: a real restoration project for the infamous Donkey Kong Country for GBA.
It wasn't a bad port after all, the gameplay was completely intact and also had the new Hero and Attack modes.

It's still a little behind from the SNES version due to the resolution reducement and soundtrack (which sounds worse, but still sounds good!). But it's an undeniable improvement.

This wasn't the typical SNES to GBA palette restoration. This was hell.
After Rare reduced all sprites and tilesets, none of the palettes matched so they had to be repaletted manually using Photoshop and a custom tool made exclusively for this.

What's missing:
* probably a few bonus rooms
* all new palettes not coming from the SNES version (basically, minigames and map)

As a young kid this port had always felt off, not in the controls but with its over saturated graphics. This graphics restoration mod makes the game look 100 times better. At the time I am writing this review I am playing this hack on a AGB 001 backlit modded console and boy does it look amazing on this little screen. I gotta say thank you to the hacker for making such a wonderful restoration mod.

Makes it feel like a totally different port altogether looks great on a backlit gba, even looks better on my non backlit one! Now my wish is to see DKC3 on GBA color corrected someday, that version has the soundtrack made by David Wise which in my opinion is much better, just a wish. This color correction is really impressive and much more than just turning down the color saturation.
