Hack description

This is a complete level hack of Rockman 3. Robot Master AIs are tweaked and weapon weaknesses are changed, and some enemies hit points are modified as well. The level of difficulty of each stage is from Snakeman (easy) to Needleman (hard).

Rockman 3 EX - OKAYDobu_GM2024-03-04Version 1.0

Rockman 3 EX

Levels: Good

Graphics: Okay (palette change)

Music: No Change

Enemies: Okay (hp change)

Bosses: Eh (few tweaks)

Weapons: No Change

Castle: Okay (Wily 6 is Good)

Difficulty: MEDIUM (Occasionally MEDIUM-HARD)

Comments: After finishing 3 EX, I don't have a lot of strong feelings one way or the other for it. The level design is fairly decent for the most part but subpar compared to 5 EX and 6 EX, throwing a lot more screens at you that feel like a pointless waste of time. This hack is noticeably easier than AYCNN's other works, barring the occasional pit-focused platforming section (beware: the pitfall gauntlet in the Shadow Doc Robot stage is absurd!) Even the bosses feel like afterthoughts, with only a few having their movement sped up a bit. It's nowhere near being a bad hack—some sections exhibit that trademark AYCNN sharpness—but I just didn't feel the love this time around.

Excellent and challengingRendood2020-09-06Version 1.0

I've been having a blast with this author's hacks. He has a great sense of flow for the stages, the challenge is progressive and fair, and the classic Mega Man platform gimmicks are used in the most clever ways.

The author also created platform layouts that essentially make the room cheese-proof, which is pretty cool (MM3's notoriously broken Rush Jet often can't be summoned). Sometimes it feels a little too hardcore (a certain yellow sky section in the Doc stages... grumble), but overall it's great design.

The weapons and damage values also got tweaked, and again, sometimes it feels a little too annoying like having to shoot certain enemies twice as much as in the OG game. Shadow Blade in particular seems quite nerfed. Most enemies have weaknesses in other weapons, though, at least.

Would highly recommend this entire EX series, with Mega Man 3 definitely being the most challenging and creative of the first 3 games.

Not funTimaeus2020-03-19Version 1.0

This hack is not fun. While the ideas in the level design are good, some sections and stages like Shadow Man, Magnet Man, Hard Man and the Top Man Doc Robot stage became annoying to play. It is not the best from the author and there are more fun ones out there.

Very pretty looking.ActionHenk2020-01-01Version 1.0

Enemies are in new stages and the stages look the same as before (graphically) but have completely new layouts. It would certainly seem as if a level editor was used to make the stages look as good as the original, but I don't know for certain.

The stages where you fight bosses have been modified but the bosses themselves behave the same as always.
