A Superb Remix of Mega Man 4DarkNeoSonic2022-03-07Version 1.0

Going in, I wasn't too sure what I was expecting from this simple, but awesome hack of Mega Man 4, but out of it I got one of the best level hacks I've had the pleasure of playing through as of late. Sure, might not have new bosses, music, or graphics to enjoy; that doesn't anything with the quality of levels we have here.

Each level has received a nice rework that helps nearly every level in this game feel fresh. Perhaps one or two of the stages could have gone a bit further with their redesigns; Dust Man's stage is missing the breakable dust blocks and Drill Man's stage perhaps could have made more usage of the rock chutes. But that can't take away from the sheer fun I had revisiting Mega Man 4 through Rockman 4 Advanced.

Even as someone who's played Mega Man 4 quite a few times, this hack very pleasantly surprised me with some of its ideas, and makes me wish so much that this had some remixed bosses to go along with it. Alas, this hack is perfectly fun, fair, honest and serviceable as is. I would genuinely play this over the original if I ever feel like revisiting Mega Man 4 again. It's that good.

I suppose one criticism I do have with it comes with the placement of the Wire and Balloon Adapters. The wire is placed in such a way that you only get one chance per level playthrough to grab it. It's not so bad since you'll know where it is the 2nd time, but it still feels rather jerkish since a checkpoint lies right after it. The Balloon Adapter is located at the end of a stage, but grabbing it sends you back to the midpoint of the stage and forces you to replay a decent portion of the stage, which doesn't feel terribly fair.

But really, those are small point compared to the fun I had with this game. Seriously, if you ever want to replay Mega Man 4, give this hack a spin. I can assure you it's as good as the official game, if not better.

Rockman 4: Advanced - The level redesign is gooddiablo6662021-12-01Version 1.0

This hack really rebuilt the levels well. Some received an "Alternative Version" of the vision, some were supplemented with small but important elements, and somewhere a major, BUT correct processing of the palette was made.

This remains in terms of complexity - it remains true to the original, which is interesting. Recommended because of the freshness and honesty of the levels

If you like Mega Man 4, you have to try this!KevvyLava2021-07-19Version 1.0

This was very enjoyable! It feels like mm4 but with more clever level design. It's maybe 15% tougher than the original but totally in range for anyone familiar with the game. There's some really cool ideas here that I don't want to spoil. Literally the only thing I might change is the boss order/weaknesses. But on the other hand, I like that it felt familiar and I could blaze through it.

Very good hackJRIVA2020-03-21Version 1.0

Very good hack. A very balanced difficulty. A great value in moving mini-boss of the original place, and a new form of the stages, full of multi paths.

Very neatTimaeus2020-03-11Version 1.0

This hack is pretty good overall. The level design is solid, fresh and with very creative parts, proposing a good and fun challenge.

The palettes are nice and feels like a better version of the original stages.

Everything here is well done and fun and there is lots of alternative paths as well. I wish the palettes of bosses, weapons and boss arenas were changed just like Rockman 4 Ex, but I still really liked this one regardless.

Download it away.

A casual, enjoyable remix of Megaman 4Satoshi_Matrix2018-09-06Version 1.0

Rockman 4 Advanced isn't one of those super tough rom hacks for only the more hardcore fans. Rather, it is a methodical careful arrangement of each stage to remix elements from the original game in a fresh new way while maintaining the general game difficulty balance of the original.

Although this hack offers no unique sprite or tile graphics, it does look excellent, with every stage palette tweaked to offer richer colors than the original game, which tended to over-saturate with bright colors even when inappropriate.

If you're looking for a Megaman 4 rom hack that you can throw on a flash cartridge and enjoy on the real hardware without the constant need for savestates, look no further.
