Hack description

This patch removes the DK Barrels, Star Barrels, and Warp Barrels to make the game more challenging. You will need to be able to beat every stage from start to finish with just two Kongs to progress through the game.

This patch is meant for the US 1.0 version of Donkey Kong Country.

Version 1.1 (1/10/2023): Removed the DK Barrels from Ice Age Alley and Poison Pond that were previously overlooked (thanks to DKCReturns for catching this). Also added Mattrizzle's Cranky hint fix, which adds dialogue that was dummied out of the game.

If you notice any other mistakes, please let me know!

Version 1.2 (1/11/2023): Removed another DK Barrel from Poison Pond.

I love this hack. DKC1 has the perfect atmosphere and has obviously set the groundwork for the series to follow (and you actually play as DK); unfortunately, it's perhaps the easiest and shortest of the DKC games, so it's nice that the Expert Edition adds the extra challenge that the series is now known for. One note, however: I found a few DK barrels on some of the later stages (Ice Age Alley and Poison Pond). I haven't made it to through the last world yet through, so there may be more. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not because the hack seems to promise that all the DK barrels were removed-just letting Q know.
